I'm gonna teach you a bit of K-Pop vocabulary here. And then we'll move onto the rant.

Netizen: a combination of the words "net" and "citizen," and most things come from Korean netizens. These people like to surface stories at the worst times and spread rumours about idols or groups they don't like. So yeah, bad people.

NU'EST: a really unknown, five-member boy group from Pledis Ent. They were super popular when they first debuted in 2012, but now only a few people know them because they weren't managed properly. They are my favourite group and the group we are talking about today.

L.O./\.E: the name for fans of NU'EST. These people are very scarce.

Produce101: a competitive show for idols, on which fans vote online for the idols they want to win. The goal of the first season was to create a girl group(which was named I.O.I), and the goal of the second season is to create a boy group. This is difficult for the four members of NU'EST participating, though, since they have been debuted for five years.

Onto the rant.

Some Korean netizens brought up a story told about 2 years ago just to rub L.O./\.Es the wrong way. Especially fans of Minhyun.
Back when he was in middle school, Minhyun and his friend supposedly stole a bicycle and sold it to a junk yard. He had forgotten about it later. One semester later, the police showed up to his classroom, so Minhyun and his friend got in big trouble with their teacher and their parents.
Minhyun's middle school teacher took the issue to Facebook to defend her former student and explain that story never happened and that Minhyun was just exaggerating it to make it more entertaining. His teacher said,"I watched him grow for three years in middle school, but from what I know, this never happened.""I'd like to remind all those reading this post. Hwang Minhyun never stole anything while he was in middle school, and he enjoyed his middle school life as a regular student. Anyone who attended school with him at the time or worked at the school will agree with this fact." One of Minhyun's childhood friends even confirmed that the story was exaggerated. This friend even uploaded selfies of himself with Minhyun and other friends to prove that they knew each other.
Minhyun's friend tells the true story like this:
HE and Minhyun were on their way home from school, when they saw a rusty old bike leaning against the trash. They tried to see if they could still ride it, but the tires were flat and the chain was broken. Therefore, they took it to the junkyard because it was not functional. The junkyard owner gave them about $2.64 for it, so they went and bought some ddeokbokki(a Korean rice cake).
So, Minhyun was just exaggerating the story for comedic effect, and K-netizens went and brought it up right when he participates in Produce101, most likely because they don't want him or any of NU'EST to win.

I don't even know these people and now I'm pissed.
