Your first art theft

Art theft happens to everyone, and some art theft stories can be fun to read and/or to tell.
So I figured, I could make this thread. Share your stories below, but please don't throw any names in there !

I'll start with mine !

It was when I was 9 or 10 years old. My best friend invited me to her birthday party, but she invited other kids that I did not know. Everything was going fine and dandy until one girl noticed that I was drawing a dragon (I loved dragons back in the days). She asked me if I could draw her one, I agreed. Once the drawing was finished she took it without saying thank you and approached her friends. She then said 'Look, I made a drawing !'. I was so furious I went up the kids and said that it was, in fact, me that drew this dragon. The girl's friends came up with an idea : I would draw a dragon and the other girl would draw a dragon, then they'll know which one drew the original drawing.
I won and my honor was restored.

i drew a comic that kickstarted my current art alias (skrillbug) and it went really viral overnight, which was a shock cos i never had more than 20 interactions with my art before

it was reposted to 9gag with the credit removed completely, and when i commented on it asking to source me i got blocked from commenting on 9gag completely lol
i am full of hatred

A troll/art thief on deviantART stole one of my UTAU cover arts and pasted the Dragon Ball Z logo over it, later sending me a Note that literally said "I'll show you... DRAGON BALL Z!!!!" They were apparently a "well-known" art thief who stole numerous art pieces and keeps them in the Scraps category, in hopes of nobody catching them. I politely told them off, but they kept viewing my art gallery for who knows how long around the same exact time; I eventually blocked and reported them and their account was later suspended.

Well there is this guy on SC that used an art of mine without permission, in my point of view this is not exactly stealing, maybe he has no bad intentions so... I asked him to put credits in the description (he still didn't answer) but I dont really care that much ewe

I had someone completely steal Kurushimi.... like. Only changed his name to Daisuke or something like that. Like didn't even try and change, just took the link for his Seke VCV and posted it. Never changed the readme or folder name. literally just copy and pasted.

At least his account was suspended, but that makes me wonder.... What's stopping someone like him from coming back?

I don't know. This happened while I was having a tussle with another troublemaker, who also kept making frequent visits to my dA page until their account was deactivated. The two of them don't seem to have a connection, but it's coincidental that they cruise by around similar times. I'm just glad I don't have to deal with them anymore.

I find my music on those sketchy free mp3 download sites all the time. I don't remember what the first one was. All I remember is that I thought it was dumb that people were advertising free music for free.

I've actually never experienced art theft before (or, if anyone out there has taken my art, I've not noticed lmao)

I just want to say

Dragons were the first thing I ever wanted to draw (began drawing at 9). Why? Because my first fandom, ever, (well, alongside Inuyasha), was American Dragon: Jake Long.
I literally wanted to be a dragon just like that back then. hue

So, this really doesn't have much to do with me, or even my friend who found it.
So, some ten-year-old on DeviantArt used those RinmaruGames dressup games to make "art" of her OC, who was just a genderbent version of Sans(There was too much cancer in that sentence.) All she did was scratch out the watermark in MS Paint with black and make some shit up for the description, like "Omg so I drew my OC [insert Sans genderbend name here bc it gives her username away]!!!! It took me 5 HOURS in MS Paint! Look how good it is!!!!1!!!111!!!"
I asked her for a request(just to troll with her) and I got no response.
It was so obvious that she used dressup games because "her" art style was always different and the character design always varied.

At least it's better then a 20 years old doing this XD
I hope she realises her mistake and grew out of it. We can't really "blame" her because she is really young, but we should explain to her that she is doing art theft.

I have to say my first art thief was more personal because he is my younger brother, the first time he did it was when he took credit for a poster I helped him with for his art class then the second time was when he would usually take some of my drawings flaunt them around showing his classmates claiming that he drew it himself without giving me any credit, I found out about it when I discovered some of my drawing I thought I've lost was in his binder. I was angry for what he did but back then he was only 12 or 13 at the time. Sadly my honor was never restored.
