Are we allowed to include instrumentals in UST downloads if those instrumentals are available for free online? Or is redistribution bad?
      1. riptunes
        riptunes
Probably bad!! You can always include a text file with a link to it thoigh, along with your info and terms of use if you like

im sure a lot of people will appreciate that nvn

All boils down to whether or not the original creator permits redistribution. I'm going to say that you're probably fine as they're putting them out there so people can redistribute covers anyway, but they would likely prefer the downloads going through their link. I'll give an exception: if the instrumental is on 4shared, do everyone (including the creator) a favor by uploading it somewhere that isn't cancer.

@adriann @kimchi-tan Yeah, that's how I've been trying to handle it. But even at 200 consonant velocity it still throws off the timing and sounds really laggy. Maybe it's just the voicebank, I dunno how Meiji's oto is.

How about clearing the preutterance, overlap, and stp? If you used acpt on the notes, the former 3 will be fixed to the note and will not adjust if you change the lyric.

@kimchi-tan In the note properties, you mean? If so, I tried that. They were already clear and it didn't do anything, unfortunately.

@Ame whatwhatwhatme I copy from existing covers half the time though. If it's my own, I copy the used pitches in the UST with the main vocals (which is mostly trial-and-error).
If it's the timing, I either look at the timed UST with the main vocals (if the improve is within the verses) or look at the wave form (again, mostly trial-and-error).

It can take as long as an hour just to properly time a simple screaming improve XD Don't worry about it~

@Mougeki Mero Thanks for the tip. But unfortunately this one is only available from one source, since Aerial Flow's original account was deleted and all that's left is an archive of his songs/instrumentals. I'll definitely keep that in mind for future projects, though.

For some songs vocals are used as an effect or an instrument, so those are generally left in for "instrumental" versions, but it can be annoying for harmony tracks to not have been removed...

Hi there! I'm TheEternalChild7. I first stumbled upon Vocaloid and UTAU about 6-7 years ago, and I've been listening to Vocaloid/UTAU music ever since. I made a (poor) attempt at creating an UTAU about 5 years ago and put out a few (cringey) covers with her, then fell into a long hiatus until this year (2016). Now that I've gotten in some more practice working with UTAU, I've made a few USTs of my own and plan on keeping it up. I'm always trying to learn more and improve, so I love feedback (both positive and negative). I plan on recording a new (and hopefully much improved) UTAU eventually, but I get discouraged easily, so there's really no telling when that'll happen.

My favorite Vocaloid genre is Vocalectro of almost any type; Trance, DnB, melodic dubstep, etc. I've noticed that there really isn't too much out there in the electronic genres for UTAU, so I'll be trying to make as many USTs in that genre as I can. Especially of older Vocalectro tracks, since those are the songs that got me into Vocaloid/UTAU in the first place.

Active WIPs: Black Cat & White Flowers (Sepia Remix)

WIPs that are just sitting around collecting dust: Far Away -3x remix- (Clean Tears), I no Shoumei (Yunosuke), Two Skin (Boyinaband & Veela), PARANOID (Niki)

Completed USTS: Wingless Angel (Void), Little Parade (Full & Short/MMD edit) (K-Dash), Scapecoat (HSP), Cold Leaf (Aerial Flow), Deja Vu (Japanese) (CircusP)

Potential Future UST Projects ( " * " = I've messaged the producer to ask for the off-vocal and am waiting for a response)
Night Cruise (Haruka Tamasaki), Vagueness* (Clean Tears), Hello Strobe (Electrostep remix)* (Camelia), Wander Girl (HSP), Blue World* (ZeroKyoriP), Lost One -2008.ver-* (Shibayan), Meaning Here Meaning My Sing* (Blue Twinkle), Terror Storyteller* (Utsu-P), Set Me Free* (HSP), Bloom (Aquabug), HeartBreak* (KASANE☂傘音), Triscope* (KofunP), my feeling emotions* (emon), Exit (Wonder-K), Tender (yuxugi waga), Yoake Mae no Resonance (tilt-six), Kimajime Shoujo no Akarui Mirai Keikaku (tilt-six), My Impulse (Japanese) (nostraightanswer)
