So I wanna re record my cv bank but I also wanna re record my vcv bank since I been using a laptop mic and I need a new reclist for vcv since the I used I think is not good, so I was wondering what are some good mics you guys prefer... it would help slot and my limit is probably $40-45

The current mic I use is a behringer C1U... its not a bad starter mic, but I'd invest in better if you could cuz it has quite the low sound issue in most cases. If you can work around that it's an otherwise okay mic at around that price-range last time I checked amazon. There's probably other mics as well in that price range on amazon, but I can't confirm how good they are as I'm not a mic expert. All I know if my voicebanks are pretty decent quality for my tastes with my current mic, although I will be upgrading to a more expensive mic eventually.

I started with a logictech headset, which isnt the "best" mic, but it started me off pretty well!

Don't get the Snowball if you can help it, it's a really bad microphone for the money...

And if you go with a headset then literally walk into walmart or best buy and buy the cheapest Logitech usb headset because they're all the same.

Meh, I wouldn't say they're ALL the same. had a really cheap $10 - $15 Logitech one I got at Target and it was so-so
(But I mean only like sound quality wise...the Logitech I had then and the Logitech I have now look like they're going to have lasted the same amount of time which is short for me, but I'm a very clumsy/heavy handed person.)

Also question, the Snowball or the Snowball iCE is not worth the price? I'm kinda curious because I know I'd never pay $100 for such a mic, but the Snowball iCE is like $45-ish and my Logitech headset is like dying finally , so I'm curious for myself LOL

Here's another suggestion called the Samson Go, I think it's pretty decent?

Review for the Samson Go btw

Both Snowball iterations are not worth the price; you could get the CAD GXL2400-USB at a similar price point or even the CAD u37 for even cheaper and they would both be better to use.

the CAD u37 picks up more sound and is clearer than both Snowball iterations.

The CAD u37 is also often compared to the Blue Yeti in terms of sound so here's a comparison

Most users prefer the sound of the CAD u37 or find little to no difference.

the CAD GXL2400-USB is better than the u37 but in a similar price point to the Snowball.

CAD GXL2400-USB review:

Also it has a higher review on Amazon than the Snowball iCE. Snowball iCE has 4.4/5, GXL2400-USB has 4.7/5

Headset mics are made for communication/calls... If you're looking for something more suited to vocals in music (like for UTAU), get an 'actual' mic

When used for just your voice (just singing or talking), any mic that sounds good would do fine. For something like UTAU, you need a little more care in choosing the mic you want because other things will come into play when resamplers render your samples out.

Blue Yeti works really well for a condenser mic, though it's kind of expensive. If you're looking to spend a little more than that even, I currently use an AT2020 XLR input, though you will need a phantom power generator as well. I also use a Dragon Pad pop filter for mine. It produces pretty nice quality, though!

The Blue Yeti is usually compared to the CAD u37. If you see the comparison in my other post you can hear how they sound similar. Some UTAU users are out there that have tried both and found that the difference between the u37 and the Yeti isn't much, but the u37 has a little edge over the Yeti.

It's not worth its price.

Okay, sorry but I've never tried that mic before. I was just going off of my experience as an amateur voice actress/youtaite for around 4 years. I started with a Blue Snowball, then went to a Yeti, then an AT2020. If you want a decent mic, you're gonna have to spend a little. I will agree that the Yeti is not the best, but it's decent enough. If there is a better cheaper option, then yes, go for it.

I used a lot of mics over the few years I've used Utau, since 2010.

Ive gone from a 3.5mm Logitech desk mic, to a rockband mic, to a usb Logitech headset, to a Blue Snowball (when theu were $100+), then I went XLR to an AT2035 (same as AT2020), SE Electronics X1, CAD m179, and now I own three different mics such as the Shure SM7b, KAM MC3, and Blue Encore 100.

I also own a CAD u37 for testing purposes, and a CAD GLX2400 which I am sending to someone that is like best in it's price range.

The Blue Snowball and Logitech headset sounded almost the same, like I'm not even joking.

So if you can't afford anything then walk into Walmart or Bestbuy and buy a $20+ USB Logitech headset that is not a gaming headset.
If you can afford it then I suggest getting a GXL2400 usb.

Hello there! I think this might be helpful to you if you're considering either the Blue Snowball or the Logitech headset
It is a comparison between the two, so you can decide which you like better!

And I think my gf @Yozane has recorded on a rockband mic and I believe she has a CAD u37, so maybe if she sees this today, you can ask her/ she'll post some samples of what they both sound like, because I've seen those mic suggestions floating around too
Hope this helps!

I have been summoned it appears.
But I can totally show the difference between the rockband mic and the CADU37.
In my experience the rockband *the cheaper one* picks up a lot less bg noise.
The CADU37 however produces a clear sound (have to take a few extra steps to reduce bg noise) and is less muffled.
Tbh I like the CADS clearness but I also like the rockband mics less bg noise.
Here are examples of banks I recorded with each.
Rockband mic first then cad. https://clyp.it/fxxvpysh I hope this helps!
