What does it take to make a great screamo UTAU ?

This question has been in my mind since quite some times.

I know there are screamo UTAUs already like Hakaine Maiko. She is really good but since she is a CV and a screamo UTAU the transitions between syllables can be extremely difficult ...
So I was wondering if it's possible to make, for example, a screamo VCV UTAU with smooth souding transitions ? As anyone here tried it ?

Someone did a really awesome cvvc screamo, maybe it would be easier on the throat if you did that.

I attempted a screamo bank of my own but because of being untrained (Gotta save the throat) I could only do a CV. It may also be a feat to battle FRQs, since for mine and Maiko's they are whack.

Also, does any CVVC reclists works well with screamo or is there a particular one that fits really well with this kind of voicebank ?

FRQ files are what you generate with utau's resampler or another program called speedwagon. They are the yellow line seen here: https://gyazo.com/d3795cc8680665591e44cb70ed5bfbbb

Sadly the creator of that screamo bank hasn't released a dl yet so I'm unsure what cvvc list they actually used. I'd try a cv just to have a small test bank, get yourself an idea of how it will sound.

Oh yeah, because the pitch is unstable the frqs are messed up ...
I'll just do what you said and do a test CV. Is your screamo bank up for download ? I'd like to study it a little since I'm so unfamiliar with those kind of banks.

there is a VCV screamo (well, death growl) bank:

in order to make a screamo vb, i would recommend vocal warmups then watching tutorial videos on how to scream or growl without straining your voice or damaging it. you should also drink plenty of water and stand up when recording. you should also move the mic further away from your mouth if you're gonna be really loud to avoid clipping in the samples.

I would like to record a screamo but... I don't want to be kicked out from my apartment (I live alone). :"D

In my apartment, it's "prohibited to make loud noises, specially at 10PM-7AM" and once, few weeks ago, every one got a "warning letter" about that because "someone has become very noisy lately" <= One of reasons why I'm avoiding to record nowadays too frequently, so I won't get caught and in worst case kicked out. Of course I do not record or being loud at midnight/late evening but still ><;;

Another thing that keeps me away from screamo is that "if you do it wrong, you'll damage your throat" etc

Yeah, that's pretty much the norm everywhere I believe it's illegal to make a bunch of noise between those hours because most people are active in the day time but I don't see why you can't record in the day time...I mean people blast loud music and have parties but you can't record your utau?? Idk, people are @ssholes.

Ah yeah, that's extremely important to consider, I mean you can still record it but I would recommend stopping if your throat starts hurting and picking up on it later and do like bits at a time, don't overdo it either. Honestly, I pretty much can only record like 15 samples of anything too high pitched or powerful. My throat's kinda screwy from overdoing it.

I was not planning on using my voice for this utau though (Since I can't growl nor scream). If you guys know someone who can that would be great :'D

I made a Scremo VCCV that works well, I haven't finished the oto yet though


the FRQ's are crazy but they don't effect anything so I usually ignore them (they don't really affect the scremo) 100% modulation and replacing long vowels helps. (Scremo vowels don't like to stretch)

I Reccomend you set a High value on BRE and use Fresamp or TIPS
Don't go too crazy with the pitchbends.

That's a nice bank! idk how you survived recording an entire english VCCV though.
For the FRQ's, I found a nice way to prevent them from going crazy: take a non-screamo vowel from any bank and place them at the end of your screamo sample, re-generate everything and boom, fixed!

<3 thank you, the bank was hard to record . I used a mixture of milk and water to keep my throat from getting raw.

And Nice! Though the frq's didn't really cause me problems. They look crazy but they mostly sounded normal.
