You know that "unwelcomed" feeling?

Like after you've been in the community for literally years but no one knows you? Or when you constantly try to reach out and make friends, but you seem to be ignored? How about the feeling that you'll never be up to par with other users and you should just give up? I've been there, I am currently there. I was actually about to say my final farewell when I came up with this idea instead. I despise this community. I truly do. I've tried to leave several times, but never had the heart to abandon my UTAU. I bet there are several people who have felt this way, or currently feel this way. Listen... You're not alone, I'm in the same boat. Hey, maybe we could be friends. We need to work together to try to fight the saturation. It's hard to feel welcomed here after you've been around for over a few months. Seriously, I've been in the community for 5 years, active for 4 and yet no one knows me, or is really willing to talk to me. I need ideas to help fight the saturation. This is a common issue among UTAU users, especially newcomers and I want to help fix it. I know this community lacks collaboration, and maybe that's the root of the problems. Maybe people aren't able to reach out to other users, and that's what's hurting them. I'm tired of feeling unwelcomed and I know there are several of you who are having this issue. Help me fight this. Together we can help end this problem so everyone feels appreciated and everyone can find a place to belong. We need to spread more love, and we need to support each other.

What could we do to help fight this problem? I'm open for suggestions. I'm looking for good, long term solutions. Is there something we can do?

I'm so sorry you feel that way... I haven't had much luck making friends either, with only about one or two from this forum, really... The only times I ever really get spoken to is only through discussions I make or start up again, but I won't act as if that's as bad as just being ignored... Maybe we could be friends? It would be nice to have an utau buddy, and even just a regular buddy, too ^=^

Maybe put ourselves out there more? Hope this suggestion doesn't sound dumb, but perhaps... Start utau groups? Working on projects, helping each other out, etc. If you don't like this community, try making tiny ones instead full of people you're guaranteed to like because your friends! I really wouldn't mind being yours ^=^

Putting ourselves out there more sounds like a good idea, but I'm not sure how to go about it. Like, where is the line between healthy promotion, and spamming? You see my problem? Also, do you use twitter? I tend to be pretty active there, since it's easier to share and talk there. I'd love to be your friend!

Oh, yay! And yep, got it yesterday! My profile name is Inuwanforall! ^-^ And, hm... That would be a problem, but I think it'd be a good idea to perhaps try to gently draw people in, instead of like shove things down their throats lol. I just bit the bullet and asked a few people to be my friends, saying it'd be nice to have a buddy that likes utau, but at the same time said that I'm not pressuring them or anything, just that I wanted to be friends ^=^

Maybe make a little intro saying you're open to meet new ppl? Or just randomly ask X3 To get noticed, maybe showcase some more of your utau interests here, like if you specialize in mmd, art, mixing, etc. as many people gravitate towards certain fields, they'll gravitate towards you!

Yeah. Mixing is really that only thing I'm good at, so yanno, every now and again I drop a cover, but it's hard to get people to check the out.

Yeah, I think that can be a tricky field sometimes, trying to get people to notice your work. Sometimes covers that people spend days on go unnoticed while things people have made in like five minutes gets millions of views... It's unfair, really, but sadly that's how it is sometimes...

Maybe try advertising your work on other websites? Maybe include more art or just more covers in general?

The best thing you can do is not be what is turning you off.

It can be tricky finding people to communicate with when we're using software that is designed to make it easier to create on your own. I'm pretty sure nobody is intentionally being cold, so it becomes a big matter of perception, and yet, I think I've had the feeling you're describing, not from this community, but from others I've participated in, and...it's complicated.

Not everybody can be the hero or be first or best at something, and in the process, you can see cliques forming and be envious or feel like you can't get arrested... Or you can just do what makes you feel happy and not care if anybody wants to come along with you.

Whether you continue in this forum or with this hobby or not is beside the point, life is too short to waste it being bitter. When I started making electronic music, there was nobody else my age doing it and there was no internet to consult for help or to make friends. I just figured it out on my own time, and that's how I'm used to working. You don't need a community to make music, it just helps with finding people to share it with.

I didn't find this community, it found me, because someone heard music I made and asked me to cone join.

i've been into UTAU for nearly 8 years by now, i never really felt like i was part of the community since i don't talk to anyone except friends so i understand where you're coming from. i just lurk here when bored :p
just don't let it get to you. the community is much smaller than what it was back then, so i'm assuming it's harder to make friends too. just keep trying

I've technically been on this forum since 2013, as I had an old account I forgot about and abandoned. I understand a little bit where you are coming from, but for me, making friends here has never been my goal. Though I'm not against friendship. My reason for taking part in this community is mainly to learn and improve, not to find friends, but I do welcome the friends I find along the way.

Friends are harder to find if you look for them, imo. Friendships that I have formed of UF have formed entirely by chance, or a discussion I and another have decided to further or build on in private.

Don't look at it as people ignore you. Try to see it more as people who are potential teachers, and friendships form more fairly. Learn from someone about why an OTO works, or why not to use uniform values all the time. Learn how to use new methods of recordings. Offer art, receive art - simply express your interest in something freely without worrying about view counts or reposts, and people will come to you. Draw art, take requests. Offer to oto for someone. Trade services with another. Use someone's UTAU vb. All these things will get attention of someone, even one person, and that one person may just be your friend.

Get out there and show us your stuff, kiddo!

I sort of understand this feeling- people who use utau can be intimidating and seem cold towards newbies (lots of memes making fun of them) and even to those who are veterans. ive had quite a bit of hostility towards me - (for stealing an utau design? which I didn't) but i've gotten a lot of kindness, too. you just gotta get out there and not care what happens- apply for things you thibk you can't get into, join groups, join collabs- who knows, you might meet people that way!

//sorry for typos im on mobile
