Title says it all! I'll keep my 2 cents short:

Worst: - Copying Vocs and Vippers. Like...no; no -ne, no miku formula just no.

Best: the Kire bandwagon. Idk if Ritsu started this trend, but come on...Powerscale and Shout? Best trend to ever happen to UTAU!

What's your opinion?

Worst trend ever for me was when everyone would try to draw their UTAUs in the KEI style... I've never really been a huge fan of the style but i ended up doing it years later as an homage to when i was younger and tried to haha

Best trend is multi-pitches. i'm not sure who started it or when, but when literally everyone started making multi-pitches was when i feel VB quality jumped for everyone, Even for mono-pitches. Multi-pitch is actually whats helped me improve on a lot of things, so i will forever love the trend of everyone having a multi-pitch!

Hm, any kind of Crypton copy stuff, Miku formula cough couhh,,
Like triangle belts, pleated skirts and school shirts, black/gray and some other color color scheme, armwarmers(sooo much like there are all kinds of sleeves that don't look like carbon Crypton copies)

Kei style art I don't find particularly pleasing in the first place, so seeing poorly done style rip-offs wasn't fun. Another peeve is when people had their Utau be,,, hm, idk how to describe it. First I didn't like the trend of people's Utau being like Vocaloids, like, Utau is its own thing, but a lot of people put their Utau up as like second-rate Vocaloids >=< so hard to describe what I mean ughhh

Another thing I didn't like was the trend of people's Utau being especially eccentric for whatever reason, like, to an unnecessary degree. (Like with the Vippers, all of them have something considered odd about them, IE. Chimera, hermaphrodite, six year old cross dresser with missile breasts, just, that kinda stuff)
It's like... Outside the trend of trying to be like Vocaloids and in their status, there was a trend of trying to be like Vippers...? Since they were like Utau pioneers to most at the time or something..

Trends I like,, well, I wasn't around in the Utau community in its start-up days, and even now I'm rookie as hell with like everything xD but I'd say,,, does Utau that are trending count? XDD like, it's so great to see Utau other than played-out Vippers take the stage for once, you know? A trend I also like is Utau users/creators going out of the old, overused trends(I have no clue what's going on with my statements rip)

Worst: copying Crypton and Vippers (not gonna lie my UTAU were once that because I was still noob back then, but then I hated it now and I don't like my old self yay)

Best: Multipitches and Powerscale. 'Nuff said.

Worst:

-this is all ready mentioned many times but imitating Miku, Rin/Len and Luka (I hate to admit this but I done this as beginner)

-everything must be Kire. Like... I must say this but Kire is only good in specific genres, them are not made for soft song like Hirari Hirari. Also, learn a proper technique to make a anger "Kire" voice: this is important, so it won't sound odd and more importantly not hurt yourself (I know some people who have hurt themselves by recording C5 Kire pitch)

Best:

-that someone got an idea of "CC". I'm not gonna lie but this is probably the best "invention" for all languages that are not Japanese. In some languages, there's ridiculous amount of CC/CCC, so if recorded all CC/CCC sounds as full CCV or VCC, the reclist would be too long for many people to record (e.g. English, Polish, Russian...) Recording CC only cuts an amount of recording and oto.ini a LOT. I think that Delta's ENG and Cz's VCCV really made people to improve/encouraged to other people to try turn out their language into a voicebank.

Bad trends:
- Vocaloid/vipper rippoffs/imitators, "trap" designs.
- Kire on everything (Kire on a soft song for example).
- The overtuning trend. Basicly, people figured out they could move stuff around and pitchbend, and over did it.
- The vocashiter/utalistner trend. Many posted plug and play with Vocalshifter/Utalistner, resulting in mostly off tune and bad results.
- "Shit UTAU users say".
- The utau growl trend. There where people who used growl on every note in the ust.

Note: most of theese trends where considered good back in the day since they were something new, a breath of fresh air to many. So don't feel attacked if you've done theese in the past. Even I did some of them back then.

Good trends:
- Utau mating call. Harmless and fun. Meant to be silly.
- The explotion from VCCV and Arpasing. More english banks to use and neat to study for making banks in other languages.
- The Multipitch trend. Helps the voicebanks range, rarely overdone due to the ammount of work required.
- The non extremes of the bad trends. Using Kire where it fits, people who fixed up the pitchbends from Vocalshifter/Utalis, and people who put growl on good and few notes.

Best Trends: Multi-pitch (you can't really go overboard - unless we're talking a single bank that's GBs worth of space and can put even larger Vocaloids to shame), Appends and the Suffix function (don't need separate tracks for it like Vocaloid does).

Worst Trends:
- Using Ritsu (or any other vipper) on Every. Single. Song. Ever. No, I'm not interested in hearing your cover of [insert song here] using Ritsu. Chances are high that I've heard it already. Same goes for other voices that are popular for the moment (Number Bronze, Anna Nyui, etc. Sorry not sorry, but half of them sound interchangeable to me, where I just can't bring myself to care).

- Using Powerscale/Kire on everything. Not every song is suitable for that style of singing.

- The implied insistence within the community that every voice needs a Kire, Power, Screamo, Growl, etc. etc. Some voices just aren't made to do that. Many users are untrained singers (if they sing at all) and are very likely to wind up with damaged vocal chords. Sure, no one is being forced to do any voice type/configuration style, but they may feel that it's the only way other people will use their vb (some people don't care if their vb ever gets used by others, but it all depends on the individual).

As someone who deeply appreciates Len's design, I have to admit I do enjoy UTAU voicebanks that follow Crypton trends. lmao sorry

But I do wish we had more Victorian/suit/old-timey dress UTAU characters. I find things like that to be really aesthetic.

I can't name a bad trend tbh.

I will cite some I can think of, most were already said above:
Worst trends:
-Use KIRE everywhere, everytime;
-KEI designs/miku formula;
-Silly aspects (because Vipper's do have them);
-"YOUR UTAU MUST BE KIRE"
-"I only use vippers", "I only use Ritsu/Teto"
-"I hate those people who use only vippers, I use only an UTAU called Anna Nyui/Shione Lt/Any UTAU hot at the time being"
-On Youtube: "You must tune only this way"*
-"I made a new reclist"
-"Act 1, act 2...act 101"

Best Trends:
-VCV/CVVC
-Multipitch
-Tuning*
-English (and other languages) UTAUs

-----------------------------
*About tuning that is a thing that really bothered me for a while: I though I knew how to tune, but after talking with some peeps and, specially, @kimchi-tan I noticed how shit I was and improved my tuning. Also, I learned how to tune to match different voices/song styles;
The difference however was that here on the forums people were kind with each other. On Youtube, however, it seems that some peeps want to show off by commenting that people cant tune/use UTAU, because "...only Cilia can tune UTAU"., so it is both a good and bad trend :/

What's wrong with new reclists? I understand why new reclists don't really matter if they're for VCV/CV/CVVC, since we have a ton of those, but some reclists can be innovative for new languages, i.e. VCCV/arpasing.
I should've made a point explaining that like I did for the tuning thing: I meant people who go on creating a CCVVVCVCVVCVVCCVCVVCV reclist with no purpose (less records, better pronounce, new language, etc) other than being a new reclist

worst :
1) kire on soft songs.
2) people constantly using ritsu or ruko (idk they just dont interest me).
3) UTAUs that sound basically the same constantly getting popular and being overused to the point where im sick of seeing them ( some are exceptions though).
4) USTs with end breaths EVERYWHERE...it gets so annoying and sounds unnatural/off
5) it being impossible to get any attention unless you have a 50 pitch KIRE masculine VB or if you overuse vippers

best :
1) more higher quality voice banks (althought alot of them sound the exact same to me..but still, quality)
2)lots of more original, interesting designs instead of regurgitations of popular vocaloids/utaus (MAC designs are a soft spot for me though)
3) the community introducing new methods (recording, methods of usage, plugins, etc)

(probably going to word this wrong the first time)
Worst:
1. Crypton-based designs when it got to the point where it looked like Miku had gone through a blender.
2. Your UTAU must have <some large number> pitches, even if all the pitches sound the same.
3. "Tuning realistically is the only way to tune." What about pitch snapping? That's how I'd like to tune, but I haven't found any users who would willingly listen to it.
4. Names ending in the kanji for "sound" or are something else like "Kawaii Hikari." Jokeloids are an exception.
5. Excessive breathing, especially since UTAU tends to mess it up without "$direct=true."

Best:
1. Medleys. I don't know if this trend's still going, but it was really heartwarming to hear all those UTAUs!
2. Powerscale / reverse-powerscale voicebanks.

I might've used the wrong term. Pitch snap is basically autotune! Kz uses this style and I think Hachioji-P has done it before. It seems to have been dropped in favor of attempting to tune realistically. (I'm not too good at explaining, sorry!)

Voicebanks built for other languages. I already know a bit about VCCV English, and I already wish to see VCCV Malay/Indonesian, Spanish, French, German, etc. in the future.
I'm crying on the malay/nesian part. coming right up boi :'U

k so here's my take and it's mostly opinionated/saying the same stuff everyone else did
best trend:
- soundclown utoot memes (they get cringy a lot but i can kek on that utau mating call shitpost the other day)
- tuning attempts getting nicer day by day, buncha people tryna do multipitch now and put more love to their kids
- lotsa new reclists
- the gift of kanru hua, moresampler and arpasing.
- nitton's boobs

worst:
- yanderes, tsunderes, those cringy tv tropes and deres... as base personality on a character bio. they always beat you on RPs.
- nitton's boobs (2)
- some kids' clothes have LED lights on them or look really cosplay-ish that it looks like they're all leather/plastic-clad, doncha ever think how they breathe and sing in those? and on top of that, your nekomimis / said-as-half-animal children. can y'all use something other than the standard mammals, avians and dragon? just turn them into a furry already >:'U
- "no public release? u no accepted to this chorus/wiki/forum thread!" but since it's the rules... so wai are the rules like this //i shouldn't question rules
- when your language is butchered by yamine renri tryna sing it with her dense accent. and it might just keep coming, but with other kids.

I think it's a good attempt to experiment JP VBs singing in other languages, but I can't understand anything without referring to the lyrics, so you're right here. Maybe this one can be weird as well.
Your accent saved ya. :v It's just the mixing that makes me a lil' hard to understand, but like, Renri would clearly lose bc she can't imitate our e sounds that well even with good tuning

I really hate it when people purposefully make their 'r' sounds for a japanese voicebank sharp, english RRRRRRRRRRRRRRs.
It doesn't sound good in my opinion but, eh.

Also, when people ask for original songs they plan on selling, and you don't get any of the profit???
Like I'm not personally a producer but if you're asking me to make a song for free and you plan on selling it, I'd want some of the money.
