heylo everyone, i just joined, nice to meet ya all. im necchan, just a person nothing special lol im an utau noob. id like to meet some cool people on here though no matter how much of an antisocial nugget i am (also im one of those no caps people yep im a frightening person be scared)

ive been in the voca fandom since 09 and probably found out about utaus shortly after, never really thought much about them until probably a few months ago my brain was like "omg u should make an utau"
so i made her design, thought of her personality and all that stuff and then -boom-
oh wowie wow i tried and its not easy in the slightest, so i just kinda quit after spending days melting my brain with tutorials.

so now i just kinda admire other utaus, i think its really awesome how many amazing utaus there are! and a lot of them sound amazing <33
maybe in the future ill try to hop up in the front of the utau train again and see where it takes me~ but for now ill be that creepy person in the back of the utau train who is just kinda there watching you

hello and welcome to utaforum!!!!!
uhh maybe i can try explaining it in simple terms? even if you decide you won't make a UTAU voice for now..?
the simplest UTAU voicebank is called CV. It's recommended for beginners. CV stands for consonant vowel, so you just record sounds like ka, ki, ku, ke, ko (for japanese voicebank)etc. basically for CV you just record those sounds, put them together in a file(rename file to a .utau extension after you put the audio samples in a file, at least thats how it is for me on mac) and put it into the UTAU program. then you go into the voicebank properties/settings where you give them names (for ex name the file where you say 'ka' the word ka. so that when you use UTAU and type ka on a note the program knows to take the ka sample out of the library and use its audio.) then in settings there are red bars and stuff that you drag to places in the audio to control where it blends and overlaps with other syllables. this is called OTO'ing it. if you look up on youtube "CV oto tutorial" they will tell you where to drag the bars and such and its pretty easy since its CV but it might be a lil time consuming.
thats the gist of it : you just record samples of syllables and the program will put them together to form the lyrics to type in. UTAU works best with Japanese.
I don't know if that was useful and it probably wasn't useful since I'm bad at explaining stuff but yeah i hope it helped

Welcome to the utau community! UTAU can be confusing for those just starting out. I'm not the most savvy when it comes to the program, but feel free to ask me for adivice on creating a voicebank, using usts, ect.
