Doubts about the breaths

I want to start using the breaths, so, I downloaded a lot of voice banks with breaths. Then, I realized that Teto had breaths too, so I tried to use them, but they listened horrible, I don't know why this happens, with the few UTAU's I used, they listen very well, and I don't know why it happens to Teto
I hope someone helps me, thanks

I advise not to use breaths inside the UTAU program itself. They do not need to be pitch shifted up or down, nor does the length need to be made shorter or longer. Therefore, the breath is being subjected to entirely unnecessary distortion from the resampler. You should add them to the song while in the process of mixing the vocals and instrumental. Put them on another track, time them to the vocals, and adjust the volume to a natural-sounding level. You can try singing the song yourself for reference of where the breaths are and how loud they should be.

This doesn't apply to end-breaths, which function more like VC notes and can be used within UTAU. If properly OTO'd they won't be too distorted.

If you type $direct=true into the flag field under note properties, it'll directly sample the recording without doing anything to it, which should keep things like breaths from being distorted.

That said, adding the breaths in when you mix the vocals with the music as Kiyoteru mentioned is also a viable option, and gives more direct control over them.

If you want to use the breaths in Utau you could adjust the pitch a bit, lower intensity and heighten breathiness to 80-90+, and mess around with the envelopes to make them sound softer; that's usually what I do and it lowers that distortion sound when you play breaths raw(works for me, at least).

I've heard it's a good idea to just input the breaths during mixing, as the others mentioned. I think it's less work with figuring out exactly where the breaths go with the first choice, but it's up to you.
