Macne Nana giveaway? Is that okay?

Hello everyone!
I'm a very rare guest here I need to say, haha. And I hope this is the right thread...
Anyways, as you know, you can not buy Macne vocals anymore, except Nana Vocaloid. For some reason,the store section is under maintance for a quite long time already, I gues.... since last autumn. http://macne.net/store

I don't know what happened and when Macne vocals will be back, but I recieve quite often qustions like "Where did you get %any_macne_vocal_%", especially her first vocal:

So I was thinking, I decided to make a give away, I wanted to give out Nana's first voicebank with my oto.ini (can be heard in the video) to 2-3 people judging by their skills: working with utau, mixing, ect.
But then I got a little bit confused and came here to ask you guys a question:
Is it okay to do a give away with Macne vocal? Because you can not distribute her publicly since you are supposed to buy her... And what to do to prevent other people, the winners, to not distribute her? And after all, is this a good idea or not?

I'm going to be the devil's advocate and say do it if you want. I asked them a few weeks ago if they were ever going to start selling the other Macnes again, and I never got a response, so I'm assuming they've abandoned them at this point. It's still technically not legal, but it's highly unlikely they're going to do anything about it. If they cared, they would have left them up.

Is it too obvious I'm still bitter about the whole thing

My views are the same as tema. Lack of response or changes in the store just comes off as not really caring. I imagine that since Macne Nana is now an actual vocaloid, there's little interest in keeping up with the Macne's as far as the utau engine is concerned (surely, she gets more from the royalties on the vocaloid than she does overall from utau, thus there's little incentive to update them or maintain their sales).

That's sort of sad they'd just suddenly abandon the UTAU versions like that... strikes me as unprofessional, especially now that the other Macnes aren't getting any updates.

Like, great that you have a Vocaloid now, but... your other characters had a lot of potential and people are still willing to buy them, hello, people. Don't drop them just yet.

Plus I've been wondering if they weren't planning to eventually update the other Macnes as Vocaloids in the near future... though I highly doubt it. And I totally agree with you

I doubt it... especially with the way Papa Macne is still a CV after all these years. :tongue:

Papa Macne was my favourite... he's he only "obvious adult" UTAU I can really think of and I was so hoping to get something quality out of him but... nope. Macne team droppin the ball.

They are a sold product. Even if they are seemingly abandoned, unless they are officially announced as so AND it is stated that you may distribute them, I wouldn't attempt it.

This. You can pretty much get any of the Macnes if you look hard enough :'D I say do it, if an UTAU is taken down I feel like it's fair game to distribute them privately.

If you still have thoughts on giving her away to people you think are deserving of her, it would be more fair for the Macne store if you just gave it to one person instead of 2-3 and delete the one in your computer so it would be like uninstalling a Vocaloid from your PC and giving away the boxed copy (with the software inside, of course) to someone.

Then again, there's the saying "what you don't know won't hurt you". If you end up giving the selected people the bank and they don't giveaway the fact that they didn't buy it, then I guess all is okay. Those strongly against the idea and those dying of envy of wanting Nana won't know through ignorance. Heck, you could've already done that right under our noses while posting the thread! (not saying that you are XD. Just making my point about the idea.)

Though, if you're willing on giving up on the idea and decide to play it safe (because sometimes when thinking up and idea, you can end up thinking it's genius or something XD), not giving it away would be for the best. Well, in terms of the law/rules/morality, not sending it to someone really would be for the best.

And ditto to Tema, Tsukine Sayuri, and RockloudHakaine.

I'm sorry for not answering for a long time.

First of all, thank you everyone for your thoughts and opinions

Secondly, I'm not going to give away the voicebank, since there was an issue, when I gave out Nana and asked not to share the DL link, I saw that there were like 15 downloads done which means the person broke my rule. So please, don't ask me in PM to give out her.

Also, I'm not going to give out an oto.ini file since I renamed wav files while converting them and to be honest I'm lazy to explain everything.

And also, if somebody will learn something about future destiny of Macne voicebanks, if they are gonna be for sale again or no, it would be great if you also find out if it is okay to make a public DL for them and contact me, since I'm not that active on the forum and I don't look after new threads, so in this case I would make some resource where you could get all fully converted and oto.inied voicebanks.
