In order for it to work, you need....
The plug-in itself....
MeCab
1. Put the plugins were they always go....
2. Install MeCab into the MeCab folder in the plugin. using the first dictionary listed in the installer.
3. Open UTAU, start the plugin with an empty project.
4. Type in Japanese... (Hiragana, katakana, kanji... and stuff.) using Japanese punctuation symbols only.
5. Render and play...

FAQ by Me
I've installed everything that you've said above, but it doesn't work. A black command screen appears and disappears, what do I do?
For me this problem seems to appear when Japanese doesn't work on specific softwares. Apparently the main reason is because ctfmon.exe isn't open when computer starts up or it isn't registered into the system. In order for you to have ctfmon registered, you need to make a reg file.
- Open Notepad
- Copy and Paste the following into the note
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"ctfmon"="CTFMON.EXE" - Save it as a .reg file. ie: ctf.reg (Make sure your "Save As Type is set to All Files)
- Close the Notepad file
- Double Click on the .reg file and click yes
- Restart your computer
Well Hanakago is working but when I typed something there is a window which says (in Japanese) that MeCab couldn't be found as well as something about dicsettings.txt. What do I do?
Basically, edit dicsettings.txt which is located in the hanakago folder and set it to where you installed MeCab. In this case the text file should be something along the lines of
MeCab=C:\Program Files (x86)\UTAU\plugins\hanakago\MeCab
Is Romaji compatible in hanakago?
To my knowledge, no.
