I find it pretty embarrassing that my UTAU only has a CV Romaji voicebank and cant read hiragana. This is basically my first time(i actually had a VB a very very long time ago but it was ugly and choppy so were just gonna forget that ever existed)and i wanna be one of those hip cool kids that have a VCV or CVVC voicebank that reads hiragana and its pretty and clear. I have no idea how to actually make it so my utau CAN read hiragana and i dont know how to make a VCV VB or anything. I feel really left out because of this, can someone tell me how i can at least make my UTAU read hiragana? Ive been in the UTAU fandom for a long time now but only some years ago i had the program and never touched it when i made my first ever VB(Which is still ugly)

First off CV can be really good, just because a bank isn't VCV or CVVC doesn't mean it's bad or something to be ashamed of. Second of all I'm kind of confused as to why you can't make the bank hiragana. If you can't read it on your own, I suggest studying it. And to have your Utau read hiragana, either the wav files themselves must have a hiragana title, or the alias. Could you elaborate on why you're having difficulty and how?

No, don't worry. I'm just tagging kimchi because she has the power to move threads on the forum.

Anyway, OP, you might want a refresher on CV otoing, so here's a guide I wrote.
    http://utaforum.net/resources/cv-otoing-guide.269/

But if you'd like to automatically add aliases, I've written a tool that can do so.

That way, you can leave your file names in romaji and quickly get all the necessary hiragana, or the other way around.

As for clarity of sound, that's more on the equipment side of things. A cheap USB microphone can get you far when it comes to UTAU as a hobby. If you want to have a more in depth conversation, @_caustic_ is the one to consult.
But you should still try to see what you can do with what you currently have. For example, making sure that you have a quiet environment to record in.

If you'd like to begin working with CVVC or VCV, then experience using other people's banks is a good place to start. I would recommend CVVC as your next step because there's less work involved in creating a bank, even if the OTOing is more complex than VCV otoing. It'll also help you work towards making voicebanks in languages other than Japanese, if you're interested in that kind of thing.
