Readme help?

So, I made a readme file, and I tried using it and this pops up:

and if i click "ok" this happens:

I don't know what i'm doing wrong really? i'm a simple newbie who asks a lot of questions.

I used a tutorial and the .txts look like this:

It looks like your files have no extension, the should be .txt files. Look in the notepad titles, it should say "character.txt" instead of "character".

if i try to name them that, it just says "that file already exists" and keeps the old name even after saving over the old file. D:
