First off, please don't give direct names or anything , I want this thread to be _relatively_ peaceful,,,

So before we had things that people who DON'T use Utau say/do that annoys you, now here's a thread for all the things INSIDE the Utau community that irritate you, be it certain 'rules' you may find bogus, issues like Utau thievery and plagiarism, general relations within the community and maybe personal, etc.

(I don't know much about the other communities, ie the ones in Japan, Korea, etc. so feel free to shed some light on that, too)

Just because we're all in the same community/interest range(Utau) that doesn't mean we can all agree with each other and have tea parties every day >=<

-As for me, I don't like people who hold biases against certain types of Utau, having preference is fine but downright degrading certain types of Utau, be it for size, gender, anything, is really mean,,
-I don't like the whole thing where tons of people suggest you have to do things their way, or the widely accepted 'right way', like buy an expensive mic(not everyone has the money for this, either) record ninety pitches, and do all this and that, ruins the fun when people feel they don't have he freedom they want/if they do things their own way they'll get looked down upon
    -Thievery, enough said, I think
-People who just want to use Utau to be popular, like it's not a contest, it's supposed to be fun, and where's the fun in only doing things for the acknowledgement of others?
    -Drama

Now, as I said before, please don't mention any names, if you're going to talk about certain personal situations, name the other persons as 'X' or 'A' or something (Also it's probably a good idea not to say the direct names of websites, just to be safe)

Memes and sh!tposts... and "spilling tea..." You don't see it often, but there can be enough of it on SM to be a turn off. I get enough of that every time I go to read Washington Post, watch anything political on yt... Can a time machine be made so someone can prevent Cheeto in Chief from winning the election?

Oh, and I don't like people who discriminate against a particular VB type (like, they'll never touch a bank that isn't VCV or something of that degree). Every bank type can sound good and every bank type can sound like crap. It's all in the oto, mic, and mixing.

I have a bit of a meta-issue surrounding UTAU community drama on twitter. Sometimes, people will be talking about one specific event, some specific case that happened between specific people. However, they might make vague-sounding tweets, and outsiders will read them out of context and generalize.
For example, let's say a user has personal problems with confidence, and feels under appreciated. An outsider might read a single tweet and think "Oh, wanting to be famous shouldn't be everything." And this will spark a general discussion about popularity and the UTAU community, without any regard for the original person's own specific issues.
Or perhaps people are making vague tweets about a user who is doing something wrong, but if you take one tweet out of context it seems like they're being shamed for an individual act that isn't wrong. It sparks a conversation about shaming people for doing harmless things, without regard for the context of the original act and why that specific situation was wrong.
I think it's fine to think about issues in a broader community-wide way, but sometimes you forget what it was really about in the first place.

Oh, and another thing, is how Japanese Utau(produced in Japan) seem to be idolized in a way, as if held on a separate tier than overseas Utau. It's difficult to describe, but it's like a lot of people consider them as godly or perfect in a way. I'm also reminded of how some get so popular. It's like it takes a well-known tuner and a popular artist like Toudo Charo to draw and make a PV for them, and the Utau gets highly recognized. Not to say that these Utau produced in Japan don't deserve recognition, after all there are many with HQ banks, it's just that I noticed how a lot of people overseas seem to naturally think highly of Japanese Utau, (kind of like the status of Vocaloids or true Utau if you will) when really there's not much that's so different about them. I don't know if anyone gets what I mean, it's just something I noticed that isn't too easy to put in words..

I kinda hate that western people thinks that they say anything to music producers and be like "please make more xxx, your music sounds too same" and when the producer actually makes totally different music and posts it people are like "oh, this is so bad because it's too different! Old was better" EXUSE ME WHAT?!? First ask for a different type of music and then not happy when they actually tried something different, what's wrong on you guys?!?

I can't understand that why people want to force producers to write music what they want. (If you disliked someone's music just because it's so "edgey/sad" etc why YOU don't write happy music yourself or listen someone's else's music who write happy songs? It's not a law to listen popular xxx -P's every single song)

I think that music what THEY like to write is the best music what they create: people should be more thankful for music producers to create us songs to cover and maybe give some tips on Patreon if possible or buy an album.

Also, another thing what bother me are people who whine that "people should use less popular/unknown UTAU only". I think that people should focus on more themselves that what others do or uses (as long as not illegal of course). What UTAU people likes to use is up to person's taste and I do think people should not judge whose's UTAU they used.

And people who only prefers "Vippers" or any highly recognized/popular/known UTAU only should understand that not every of those UTAU are HQ god and that HQ UTAU can be found from a ocean of unknowns. (Also understand that good art =/= good voicebank; CV=/=bad) They should give a chance every UTAU.

To be brief, tactless people. I'd understand if English isn't your first language, but most of them are native English speakers. It also drives me crazy that some people don't know what and what not to say in public. If you're gonna shade on someone, it better be on a private server, not a public one where a friend of that person can easily see it.

Both as a moderator here and outside the forum, it makes me nuts seeing people don't know how to be sensitive or word things politely.

I don't like how some people I know are all like "Oh yeah give those unnoticed UTAU more recognition!" And then the only utau they use is their own utau
I mean I get that you want your utau to be popular, heck I was like that at first too, but i started to try promote other well made UTAU as well.

Here and SoundCloud are my only connections to the community, so I'm not the most educated, but I don't really like it when users jump into conversations that had nothing to do with them. Someone might be in a bad spot and be venting about it, but then there might be a response calling them out somehow. A single post with no intent to target anyone becomes a new drama spot. Why is that? Just leave them alone if you have nothing nice to say.

Also, attention-seekers. There's different ways to do this, but I'm specifically talking about those who start drama or do things that are widely accepted as wrong. Stealing a voicebank? Why not try making your own? Do you absolutely have to say something to someone? Send them a private message.

And it's already been said, but saying "only use this type of UTAU" gets to me a bit. Sure, using unknown UTAU can help their creator(s), but using popular ones isn't bad either! The only issue I can see from this is when users idolize their friends' UTAU and only use them. They won't bother listening to any voicebank that isn't in their list of 10.

Copyng other voicebanks not stealing but in recording style some people just (try to) make there voice sound like a voice provide of a popular bank because everyone else was praising it. It you want vocal fry ,ending breaths, or multi-pitch that's fine but do you just because weirdo's insist that Renri, Meiji, Nyoi, Kohaku ,and the vipper/macloids are superior in everyway. If it works it has potential just work to build a following and people will notice.

When people refuse to recognize issues with their banks. It hasn't happened to me personally, but i remember seeing a comment on a video essentially saying. "It sounds like you otoed your bank wrong, I can help if you need it."

The maker responded with something like this. "It's just my style of otoing."

I get that nobody starts out perfect, I sure as s***t didn't, but at least acknowledge that you're doing something wrong.

Also, people who spam post their UTAU.

Ending breaths that sound like they're actually trying to make ending breaths. So often I hear VBs that have really obvious, really fake, really forced sounding breaths at the end. Like, I'd much rather just have a natural release to the vowel than a really over the top forced exhale like you're trying to fog up your computer screen.

Welp this has been an interesting read. I quess what bothers me most about the community is the "I'm better than you" attitude going around I mean, yeah your vb sounds okay and there are things you can improve on but why walk around like your trash dont stink (queue song: I'm just a piece of garbage) like of course we all love our own utau but does that mean we should disregard others? No it doesn't #makeutaugreatagain
    (btwItendtocomeofflikethisaswellbuthonestlymybanksaretrashandyoushouldjustignoreme/shot)

ANOTHER THING, don't be an ass when it comes to someones bank THEN when they discontinue the bank because you and your friends created backlash about it you have a whinge and proceed to harass them for the bank saying they are trash because they discontinued the bank that YOU and YOUR FRIENDS didn't like. Not cool bro not cool. This is why you cant have nice things.

I'm guilty of this ending breathe thing. :"D I just learned recently how to get more natural sounding ending breaths: not to recording them separately like "ah.wav" but oto "a R" (or "a -" what you ever prefer for alias) from a.wav or a_a_i_a_u_e_a.wav sample.

I'm not active on twitter or have a lot of activity on SC so I'm kinda outside of the discourse.

My issue with the community is criticism thats not constructive. If you're going to point out what you don't like, or whats wrong, at least have the chance to offer advice and help. On the flip side to that, people who can't handle constructive criticism and go on a witch hunt to harass you with their friends. I will never forget when a particular popular user and I was pretty cool and then one day I mentioned that their new voicebank sounded exactly like her well known utau and that perhaps doing something to distinguish it so it can gain notoriety . Next thing I know, I'm getting thesis statements on how rude I am, how hurt I made them, and then they never talked to me again. So thats that.

The battle between which reclist is the best.

    CV vs. VCV vs. CVVC

When someone makes a cover and all people comment on is if they are going to distribute the ust.

It seems to me that about one to two years after a popular song(ex. Donut Hole) is released it becomes forgotten about. Then maybe a popular user covers it and then afterwards there is a temporary influx of covers. So songs that weren't very popular to start with or much older songs(ex. Melt or SPiCA) fall into the void and no one covers them.

The battle to cover new songs by popular artists first.

And another thing that bothers me on Western UTAU community in general that people are very attacking and aggressive if someone had done something very wrong like traced someone's art or stolen a voicebank.

Last summer a Japanese user traced a drawing of mine to create LINE stamps and was going to sell them. I was, of course, super ANGRY about it and got very panicked and stressed about it (I wasn't at home, I was in Japan and only places where I could use WiFi was some public places with free WiFi...). I written a very long message that what he done was NOT ok and sent it immediately when I was at railway station with free WiFi. He later read my message and he was very sorry what he done, he did not understand that full body that I drew of his WIP UTAU by request (plus I designed it) doesn't mean that he can use it however he wants. He took his traced WIP LINE stamp drawings immediately down.

We later on discussed how/where he can use my full body image and where not. Then I wrote TOS how/where he can use the image and where not and a separate TOS of the character design.

We are now ok good friends that Skype call time to time and all is now fine. Even tho this experience wasn't nice, it taught that it's important to discuss and that Terms of Use are important. No matter how "unwritten" or "self-evidence" some rules are but all rules aren't self-evident for everyone. This is not a stupidness, some people just don't know.

My point of this story is that most of the people aren't evil/troll from nature and you should not start a big drama and call him/her **** if someone does something like this. First, sent a PERSONAL MESSAGE to them: tell what they did wrong and explain it, also tell "...please take it down" or something similar. If the person understands, agree and apologizes etc, then great! Peaceful end. (But if the person disagrees and says "f*ck you I do whatever I want" then ok, then I understand that situation is much more complicated and not nice.)

And if the same person makes another mistake - unless they repeat exactly same thing what they have done in past - then the same thing, don't start a big drama, keep calm and explain that this is not ok. We should be in general more forgivable and give always a second chance for everyone.

I feel like the treatment of gender can be very disrespectful. Stuff like people making or calling characters "tr*ps"... Which is a transphobic slur, and that's pretty dang alienating to trans people who might want to join the community.

Or, if someone makes a male UTAU for example but people don't think they sound masculine enough, they'll be like, "are you SURE this character is a boy??" or "well, I headcanon that your utau is just crossdressing!!" Which is like...

You didn't make the character, so you don't get to decide that. If they say he's a boy he's a boy. Don't godmod other characters!!

How can you "godmod" another character? To be completely honest, your using the wrong vocabulary, the correct term should be "change" or "force sterotypes on".

It isn't a transphobic slur either, since a transgender person can't really be a trap if they're transitioning from male/female to female/male. A transphobic slur would be "shemale".

this is basically my biggest issue rn. it kinda sucks that people will go "slaaayyyy" on a cover but disregard others that remotely try to stoop on that level. like, i wanted to be appreciated too. it's just really discouraging that way. on a related topic; people who has the "do stuff for you, not for others" mentality, should i be less harsh, needs to delete all their content because imagine if you put a lot of effort into a cover and then literally no one gives a shit about it how are you supposed to feel good about yourself? upsetting doesn't even describe that to begin with.

i'll reply more if i could think up of more issues. i really just wanted to get this out there.
