Hello! There's a lot of people who want to write originals in the fandom, but have trouble because they don't know how to form a scale or what length to make notes, or maybe they don't understand how to use what meter they want. While I'm not an expert, I can teach the basics of music theory from what I know and what I've taken at my college. This is a bit inspired by Jeremy's live UTAU classes, so this will be taught in a class fashion and you DO need to sign up. There will be a grading system and homework, but you can opt out of it if it stresses you out (and maybe just join as an audit). You do not need to attend every class; there will be a video for each lesson that you can watch at your leisure. All you need to do is the homework or classwork assigned each lesson, before the next week. Classes begin Sunday, April 12 every week at 2PM PST (you can convert it to your time here). Class ends Sunday, June 28. I'd like to specifically mention this isn't for advanced music theory. This is enough to make you able to write an original song, using basic knowledge of how to form a scale and use a proper meter. I won't make you re-create Bach harmonies or things like that, don't worry. You can sign up by filling out the form (you may privately message me if you wish for some of the info to be private, like your Skype): Form Skype username: Google Hangouts name*: Able to attend on Sundays?**: (*I'm unsure if I need Google Hangouts. I may just end up using Skype and join.me. **Lets me know whether I should forward you the video lesson automatically or not. If you cannot attend, I'll automatically send the video, but if you miss it anyway without having said no, you'll have to come to the forum or Skype to find the link to it.) Any homework will be updated into the thread at a later time, when class starts. Unless you'd rather not be added to the Skype group until the classes start, you'll automatically be put in. You can let me know if you'd rather not yet later, though.
