lots of modern deco*27 songs are about unhealthy relationships, and i see this song as no exception. some people seem confused but i think it's about someone who wants their SO to be an object they can just love and are confused when their SO begins to chafe and be the person they actually are. naturally, the relationship is falling apart.
but that's just me.
