VS4U is now updated at version 1.11!
Download here: http://ackiesound.ifdef.jp/download.html#vs4u
A new engine called presamp has been released by Delta, it is a supplementary engine for using CVVC voices in a CV context.
Update 18th March: pros and cons of presamp (that I have found)
- high quality sound rendering output
- suitable for use with softer voices
- comes with a readme in English
- opens up a lot of batch rendering windows and may load slower than default resampler engine
- does not render fast notes well, it may do to use presamp on songs with slow tempos
- slurs VCV though it may be a rendering glitch
When I use presamp, it doesn't play all notes. Only some of them are played.
Last VS4U version is 1.4 now.
I do not understand how to install FFTW files. Can someone help me out?
I just paste "libfftw3-3.dll" in the same folder than the resampler that uses it.
Get the file from:
There you can get the source and all that... but as you may just want to use it as a windows user follow the link that says "Go here for Windows."
To be sure sure get the zip that says "32-bit version: fftw-3.3.4-dll32.zip (2.4M)". But if you know what you do you can get the 64-bit version, I guess.
Then just unzip "libfftw3-3.dll" at the same folder than the resampler.
At least that is how it goes in XP. Not sure with the newer Windows.
Thanks! I'll give it a shot. The download gave me like...12-15 different files haha.
VS4U is now at ver. 1.41 (link is 4 posts above)
It seems to have new flags:
T - same as the t flag (-2400 to 2400, base value: 0)
O - brightness (-100 to 100, base value: 0)
S - clearness (-100 to 100, base value: 0)
W - disables pitch shift? Not sure what it is (-2 to 0, base value: 0) (W-1 for voiced, W-2 for unvoiced)
M - makes the synthesis similar to the one in ver. 1.32
Also, does anyone know where TIPS is currently being hosted? The old link doesn't work, so does the creator's site itself gets an error.
To fix the slurred notes and to help render fast notes, there's a plugin delta released called preedit. It's in japanese, but it's pretty easy to understand. (I would add pictures and links but I can't right now so I'll edit them in later).
When you launch it, the first box is where you select the wavtool. This is by default set to wavetoolex - this comes with presamp. The second box is where you pick the actual resampler. It works with pretty much any resampler that works well with cvvc banks. Once you've selected these, tap the button right next to the second box and then tap the button directly underneath that. This should fix most of the problems you're having.
Because it is essentially a wrapper for other resamplers, it works with any flags the resampler you picked in the second box, and it also supports constant velocity which will help with the fast notes. It renders at the speed of the resampler you've picked, but you will have to wait a few seconds longer depending on how long the ust is and how slow your computer is.
I use it for everything I do which is cvvc-related. (with the help of presamp) It also seems to support chinese, korean, spanish and english - but I'm not too sure of the reclists it uses. I know for the spanish one it uses Teren000's reclist.
Holy Shitola guys! Have any of you heard of Moresampler?
It's a dual wavtool and sampler created by a student at the University of Illinois and you can read about it there. ^
It appears to be able to support higher sample rates as well as bit rate, and appears to use different methods of synthesis than what other engines do.
It prevents combing from misalignment (audio phasing issues) of the sample and makes crossfade optimization unnecessary too!
Just check your utau options...it hates custom render settings.
best to avoid resampler patcher and no batch file.....I think
Make sure you have cache enabled.
Also look at wavtool-yawu and wavetool-pl if you are interested in wavtool alternatives for HQ sample rates.
Ofc moresanpler doesn't need these.
And fyi you won't benifit from higher sample rates unless banks are recorded on studio equipment. (but the sampler and wavtool will still do it's job regardless)
THIS IS AWESOME! this is the first UTAU Engine developed overseas right? OMG i cant wait for its improvements.
though the sample sound a bit like EFB-GT but its cool!
I have, or had, phavoco, so I think I can give you some info on it. It's, from my point, relatively useless, as it is extremely picky. Out of the 20-some UTAUloids I have, it made not ONE sound good. It produces a sort of 'wavery' effect. While it sounds kind of cool, it helps little with tone. I believe it's actually up for download now, though I can't tell you where (as I don't remember). I'm sure you could get it to work, but it would require some experimentation. I'm not sure if it ignores flags or not, but I'd assume yes. Again, I haven't played around with it much, but it isn't a must-have.
I've also heard M4 is only 18+? Apparently this is due to copyright law or something.
M4 is no longer (legally) publicly available for anyone that didn't participate in the Japanese-user-only 18+ closed beta testing of it. It was found to be unstable with a lot of voices, so it was discontinued.
