What's the best way to emulate English Long and Short R Sounds for Defoko?

I know Defoko really isn't suited for this type of thing.
But I just like making her speak as clearly as she can, for fun.

She can handle most words I try to make but the R sounds are something I just can't get to sound right.

Use consonant velocity on her w and Japanese r sounds.
for the ending r sounds (like in car) you can try blending other vowels into the end.

Consonant velocity is a percent value.
The default is 100 (or blank) and lower values slow down the consonant while higher values speed it up.

If you look in the oto the pink area is the consonant area that will be sped or slowed down.

I think that for word "car":

  1. use long か and super SHORT る note (don't make か and る equal long, る MUST be hyper short compared to か)
  2. select note る only → "Region Property"
  3. set る consonant velocity as 1 or 10 (extra slow)
  4. Clear Preuttrance and Overlap by pressing "Clear" button.
  5. Type following in Preuttrance and Overlap: 50. This forces to blend る's with か that doesn't sound "choppy"
Please, only do this if it's ending R consonant for a word with /a/. car, bar... got it?

If you have a word that ends in R but is not "ar" like in car or bar then you can use あ to replace "r" sound. あ will also replace well long English /3/ vowel.

For example word "for" would be ふぉ and short あ

I hope that this tips helped!

I wouldn't recommend using "ru" or "a" for an ending R. In fact, I typically use "u" for ending Rs and Ls, when I work with Japanese banks.
