For those who don't know, a kire/powerscale voicebank is a multipitch voicebank recorded with weaker lower pitches that go more powerful as the recorded pitch increases.

Personally, I really like how each pitch is recorded in a different tone compared to a full-on power voicebank which gives it more variance. So even if you want to make a soft cover out of a kire voicebank you can use the lower pitches on higher notes if you don't want. Or if you want a different tone on a certain note, you can use a higher pitch for a brighter tone or lower pitch for a darker tone.

When done well, multipitch banks with varying tone is versatile, but I appreciate voicebanks that more accurately capture the voicer's tone shifts than following the supposed standard of "soft low, strong high". Not everyone's voice works that way, so it's probably more practical on the voicer to make tone-specific banks without straining for pitch.

I like this way of recording a lot...! I think it can become very realistic sometimes, even if the voice is not natural (like Meru Melodic's feroce V:shades:...

However I find a lot of "KIRE" vbs revirded incorrectly: like solo pitch shouting VBs or then multipitch VBs recorded with a shout for A3 and a different shour for G4...People mistake the "KIRE style" for "Sakebi/Shouting Style"

Anyway, I think the most realistic "KIRE" VB I have seen after Ritsu's is Dill (by five squared). If you join her appends like the author suggest ir can become very realistic and not only "shout" esque: "Lazy (A3), Usual (C4 to G4 I think) and High (F5 to C5 I think)

When done well, powerscale-type multipitch is very nice, but on the downside it only seems to work well for limited genres. Also, if done poorly, or not used correctly, they can sound very unnatural.

Okay, so.. first, I'll say that I voted "I like them" because, obviously I do. I make many powerful VBs (I don't release them-- yet-- but they're nice and fit many songs.) However, I hate when they're done the way they're not supposed to.

Some people think you're just supposed to scream at the top of your lungs on every pitch, but no. That just sounds really unnatural. And in my opinion, the point of making a kire style VB is to sound more natural and improve range.

I like it when they're recorded the way they're intended I guess. Natural sounding lows, strong highs (not belting). It's a whole 'nother thing when the VB is advertised as a belting one. But when you call a 100% power VB "kire" then ya gotta go, yo. Even then a power VB if more of an extension rather than a standalone bank.

This was pretty repetitive but yeah. :'D

I love power voicebanks. I just love to hear an UTAU yell. It sounds like they're venting or something.

Kinda depends for me.
They can sound great when used right, they can sound bad when used wrong.
So I'm somewhere in between.
