I see a lot of them around, and I think they're really cool and usually have good designs (if not a little repetitive).
I just wanna see everyone's thoughts!
Do you like them? Do you have one? (if so show me pls-)

Officially, Macne only refers to the actual series made by MI7 Japan, prior to when UTAU-Synth came into existence. I think that the creation of fanmade macloids was due to a misunderstanding that all UTAU banks made on Mac had to be called a "macloid". The fad seems to have died out now.

I really like Macne Nitton, and Macne Nana. But I haven't really seen any others, just because they have "died out" of the utau community/they aren't as popular nowadays.

I really like the aesthetic of them since the color schemes are usually so simplistic. It's not usually overwhelming and typically the clothing style are more futuristic which is cool. The outfits are kinda repetitive but I like how if you put them together they usually have a sense of harmony going on, like they're actually a group. They're overall pleasing to look at. I'm fairly neutral. I don't hate it- but I'm not head over heels for them. Also the copy of the Gomoku artstyle reminds me of like when we were all in the Kei stage of utau.

I see what you mean.

Yeah- I asked because I found a group on DA that's dedicated to them and it's still running-

Yeah! I like the harmony of them, they seem like they're actually related to eachother somehow. And yeah the Gomoku/kei stuff is fine if it's just like. A thing for fun, but I get really confused when people use it as their official art-

I think it's fine to make a mactau with the Macne theme. I don't think it was a misunderstanding that all Mac UTAU had to be in Macne style. Most voicbanks and characters that are based around the Macne theme were recorded on Windows ironically, like Makne Nitton 's early banks for example.
I think it's more of a theme to go by. Much like having an UTAU with a crypton like theme or something else along those lines.
I made Masune Tsuta as a joke for all the Macloids and I know other users who have done the same.
There's a lot of creative freedom so if something is done right I don't think many people will complain.

I dunno who the artist for Nana is, but I personally l o v e to see other Macne/Makne UTAU characters drawn in a similar art style. It is so beautiful to me.

I don't see much of them, but I know a couple. I really like Makune Hachi, although she's not out anymore :sad: Anyway, I like the design scheme, although I heaRd it had gotten repetitive since I guess a lot of people were using the theme. Mishabird even made a post about it one time... While I don't mind, it depends on how the design looks. Like with crypton designs. I don't like looking at utau with crypton designs since most look like Miku formula ripoffs tbh. The crypton vocaloid have a similar formula between them, but manage to make it look unique, just compare Miku and Luka and Rin. That being said, if an utau has a design that follows the macne style, and it still looks unique and creative, I'm fine with it. Although I'm pretty sure the trend has died out, anyway... ^^;

I still see new ones around, some of them are cool, but a lot of the ones I've seen are very repetitive, and yes mactau use a base style, but the ones I've been seeing are just the same with different color pallets and an added article of clothing or something. I still like the aesthetic of mactau designs, but I have personally grown out of having my utau makne nitton following the mac theme.
Dropping the name makne
And basically all mac elements. It's just not fun anymore

Some Macne based/inspired UTAU such as Makune Hachi and Makne Nitton as example actually looks good but they look still original and not look a "rip-off" or "re-color" of official Macne.

I am OK if people creates a character (fan character) based on Crypton/Macne (or any other game/cartoon series in general e.g. MLP, Sonic etc) as long as they look someway original but also details that are added in somehow are in harmony with original series and the fan character looks like that it could be an official character of that show/series and so on.

But let's be honest: creating a GOOD fan character/design is extra hard and can limítate creator's imagination because you need to often use specific (drawing) style, colors, detales and/or body types etc to "match in", so it becomes very easily "repetitive".

I think that if you like Crypton/Macne based design then OK, you can create one (as long as not a recolor of course) but keep in mind that this theme has become really overused over the years (from 2008/2009!!) so standing out from a crowd now in 2017 is much much more difficult. If you want that your UTAU stands out better from a crowd, I recommend to base it on something own, original, thing.
