Your Unpopular UTAU opinions

I don't like VCV because they have a robotic twang in their transitions, therefore I don't have any VCV voicebanks.

An opinion I hold dearly conflicts with a large portion of the vocalsynth community, but probably agrees with the UTAU community. I believe that UTAU is one of the best vocalsynths available, and wanting to be part of projects like vocaloid, muta, alter ego, cevio, etc. is only for the sense of specialness and exclusivity they give off. The quality of vocals they produce are actually worse.

I don't have anything against "Cryptonloids"-inspired look for an UTAUloid.
( not talking about recolors - those are pretty boring - but a classic "cybernetic diva with a crazy futuristic uniform on" or any variation of this idea doesn't bother me at all, in fact, I like a lot of UTAUloids that either started with that kind of design, or still have it)

When someone has too much appends like "Solid, Vivid, Light, Power, Clear, Strong, Kire, Adult, Straight and then Soft, Calm, Weak, Dark, Cute, Whisper, Husky, Breathy, Closed etc." then they all sound the same but but different flags. I mean, I have nothing against it. If only they sound distinct from eachother, im okay with it. (I mean i know Luka isnt an utau but her EVEC system is an example. I dont see the difference between her EVEC Power and Power2. or EVEC Native and Husky. There maybe only slight differences but wont your tuning + configuration make them unidentifiable?)

Anything over 6-8 pitches is useless and really pushing it.

You shouldn't voice more than 5-ish utau because it all sounds the same no matter what the hell you did to your voice. It's not getting any different? Just combine them into one after that point or something. There's no reason for that many characters to sound exactly the same.

Owning more than 10 utau is way too much for 1 person. Why do people do that.

It always disappoints me when I see a new UTAU that has a cool design and personality (yes, these things matter to me because I love UTAU as characters more than just voices) but they're just a CV Japanese bank. I don't believe CV is automatically bad, but I do like more recording since we have such nicer methods now.

I also don't like heavy handed shipping or characters written to be obsessed with some Vocaloid, even if that can and is meant to be played for laughs, I dunno. I'm anti love, but at the same time I also dislike characters with extremely tragic backstories. There's no reason to kill your UTAU's entire family and have songs be the only thing they feel is worth living for. I much, much prefer a long list of interesting little quirks (say in the case of Tarou Iwata and Akihana) than a page of heartbreak and scars.

Oh yeah, and weak or obvious likes and dislikes. I mean, I love seeing people be creative with it and if I ever did make UTAU originals, it'd probably be character songs tbh. But I digress, these probably aren't even unpopular opinions besides preferring more character info and not minding having to read a few paragraphs. Though I do agree people can overdo it in many ways.

Not just with recording, I also mean design. Now don't get me wrong, I love some good character design with interesting meaning or style, but please be mindful that for artists who draw PVs, such details have to be redrawn again and again. It can be fun, but sometimes it's too much and you really don't need too eccentric of a design or something edgy, as long as what's there means something other than OMG so cool!!!!

I dunno, this is probably more like a little rant, but eh. It's been awhile since I wrote out something kinda thoughtful and long... sorry to dump on your thread >w<;

I hate Teto's voice. It's twangy, nasal, and sounds like the Defoko bank just amped up a notch.

And I think Ruko is offensive, because she is a girly girl with a slightly manly option for her bank. I don't know what they were trying to reach here, but actual transvestites (Sorry for the term) cannot switch their voice between the two at the drop of a hat.

is this unpopular...? i feel like it might be maybe.

i don't really understand the whole "it's not about the art/design it's a musical instrument!!" thing anymore. this community is saturated with utau.....at this point we have, what, literal thousands of utau to pick from....why would i want to use something that doesn't look appealing when i could just use an utau with a nice design? with multipitch vcv being the norm so it seems, i rarely, if ever, have to compromise by using a lower quality voicebank in exchange for a good design anyways.

Let's continue to make this a thread for weird and unpopular opinions, since there's already another one for general dislikes.

My unpopular opinion is that the default resampler sounds alright. I'm really lazy, so I often can't be bothered to switch resampler or use flags or anything. Maybe I'll switch to Moresampler if I want to use Mt. But yeah, sorry if it causes 10 years of screechy noises to you, but to me it's faster and more convenient... maybe it's just because I'm so used to UTAU-Synth.

Ruko is a hermaphrodite, not a transvestite, though,,,

This!! I've used moresampler once, and I do agree it sounds better, but it takes much, much longer to render a .wav when using moresampler, and default sounds quite okay for me anyway.

Ah. I should look at showcases more. Still doesn't explain the dual voices though... Hermaphrodites can't switch their voices either. And that's more the thing that annoys me.
