The "Great" Utaconundrum™

Ok so hear me out (apologies for my Big Amount of Problems™)
I'm using Yami Ryone to cover Circles, right? Well, when the line-thingy that plays the notes gets to the phonetic [-il], it doesn't play. I've checked the voice settings so yes [-il] exists, but its just. silent. IDK why.

Also on a side note, Sonata? I'm trying to get her to say [_l9] but its not working. And for some reason she only works if I click a certain folder in her files, yet however, when I click said folder, her icon doesn't appear. I click her readme.txt? The icon AND readme appear, yet her voice just suddenly goes kaput on me. And also [_l9] exists in the voice settings, so I know it's because I really suck at using UTAU.

Even more so, I download some UTAU (Let's take Gekiyaku as an example) I open her in UTAU, her voice works, right? But...the icon and readme don't appear. Like, this is happening with at least every UTAU in my laptop, and the only ones in which the icon, readme, AND voice work are Defoko (well duh), Kazehiki, Denki Sai, Kikyuune Aiko, Masune Tsuta, Kushiba Maki, Acme Iku, Crina_SWEET, and Crina 2.0.

I once again apologize for the excessive amount of help that I need but...
Pls help?

Okay, so on the notes that aren't playing, are there little [!] over them? If so, it's an easy fix, just select the note, right click then select "Envelope," and then make sure one of the little square things are overlapping.

About the readme and icon, I really don't know...

Nope, no [!] at all...

Where do you have UTAU installed? If it's still in Program Files, you may be encountering permission errors, so I advise moving it somewhere else (such as Documents).

Adding to Kiyoteru's advice here. Also make sure if you're loading an UTAU voicebank that has multiple folders (such as with most VCCV banks) that you're loading it via the oto.ini file like so:
upload_2018-5-3_6-48-21.png

UTAU can only read one level deep into a voicebank folder.

An UTAU named X is VCCV.
The folder setup is
UTAU X > A3 > (insert VCCV folders here)
Normally you would load the oto.ini from the base folder, in this case UTAU X. And then UTAU will check for other wavs and oto.ini files one level deeper than that. Meaning my A3 folder would need to have an oto.ini and wav files directly within it, and not nested in a folder inside of that. Does that make sense?

I recommend checking the folder layouts and making sure you're loading the oto.ini in the base folder, especially if the UTAU you're wanting to use has multiple pitches or is split up like VCCV is.

This may also seem like standard advice, but remember to fit the UST to the voicebank. You'll have to do this every time you change the singer of the UST.

UTAU needs to be able to read and write to its own files, for example to update an oto.ini file in a voicebank. The restrictions in Program Files prevents anything from being edited easily so that users won't accidentally break other software that require certain files and folder setups. This isn't the case for UTAU, so it's safe to run it from another folder.
