Why do you do utau?

Question! Why do you do utau/utau related things? Why do you have your own utau and why is it something you like? How did you start off? What mic did you use at first?

I wanted to make an utau a little after I got into vocaloid which was 5 years ago. After I saw kasane teto and ritsu I saw tutorials on YouTube on making an utau. So I thought it'll be cool to see my characters sing my favorite songs. Then I found out about MMD so that made me become a 3D modeler to see my character come to life basically. I proceeded to design my utau (who is now more of my main oc than utau lol) I wanted to make her over 5 years ago. I never had time to do so which sucks but I made 1 cv bank but never configured it. Then a year later 3 unfinished vcvs. I have 1 vcv that I recorded 2 years ago but never configured and I have 3 vcvs that I recently recorded! They are configured! (If you want to beta test let me know)

My first time recording I used one of those ps3 mics from rockband or something. The second time I used a condenser Mic I got off eBay (Idk the name it was cheap) the third microphone I used was my razer kraken. My fourth microphone I currently use is my blue snowball ice (was a gift from my brother) with a mini sound booth and it works ok for what I want it for

Yeah my reasoning is pretty boring lol

Well I staterted UTAU back in 2016. I didn't know I could actually make my own voicebanks and when my friend told me I was so happy! I started looking up so many tutorials and got me to where I am today! I actually made Haru (my main UTAU) as a little OC character. I used her as a character in a drama club production and I got a good friend who noticed that my character was a vocaloid. She's the one who told me about utau in the first place.

I use a Yeti Stereo Microphone and audacity to record and the internet to help me out

Hi. Started earlier in the end of december 2017 but joined the forum in the beginning of 2018. i really just thought it was cool you could see how much love people put in their voicebanks, characters, art( I can't draw at all)and ideas. a friend of mine told me about utau and tried to coerce into voicing once an utau at the time, but was way too shy. it would have sounded terrible. Eventually practiced and participated and offered for someone at the time who needed another voice. Was a learning experience lol. My own voice just sucks when it comes to strength. I would be to embarrassed to ever create a character because it'd feel cringey, so I respect those who do. First mic was almost only because it was borrowed would have been a bluesnowball. The mic I have had for the longest time from old comic dubbing though is precious to me. But there are times I feel really depressed, because there's so many skilled users out there who I wish I could give the mic, too because they could use it better/more deserving.
Grateful to have found so much new music through UTAU/vocaloid. Always look forward to tuning harmonies and one goal is to try to talk to more people ^^.

Started back in 2015, back then I really just wanted a way to further personlize a bunch of my o.cs, classic teen stuff. But I started getting more interested in voices in general, how they work, and how to make them sound realistic and original once they're put through utau.

Originally, I just used a mic that I had built into my crappy tablet. Once I got a job, I bought some headphones with an okay mic, and later saved up and bought a Blue Snowball mic. That's what I have now.

Oh that's cool! Yeah I was pretty stoked to see you can make your own voicebank too! I used to use audacity but using oremo cut my time in half when recording

Hi! Bringing your characters to life is s good feeling! I hope you continue to create! Don't worry about your voice! Its natural! I had the same problem but I recorded two utau with my default voice and an acted voice to see what's the difference. Positive people like you is what motivate people!

This is a very interesting post.

I started playing with UTAU maybe around 2013-2014. Then I started posting UTAU content around probably 2016-2017.
I started UTAU out of love for Vocaloid and MMD just to see my characters come to life, I just love the science behind UTAU and how big the community really is. The UTAU community brings a lot of people together with the same interest as you along with the same passion.
I find the UTAU Community very wonderful and amazing yet corrupted but the beauty part is it creates some awesome voicebanks and characters along with a crap ton of talent to just pour in this comminty. I have a hard time with the community sometimes, I really do. I joined out of fun to just create Voicebanks and have fun, make friends that I can't make in real life cause the freakn really world is scary yo. I think I and alot others forget the fact UTAU is a hobby, it shouldn't ever be a contest (Unless it is a contest then that statement means nothing but you know get the point)
UTAU is a fun place to escape in and just get lost in different Voices, Languages and Knowledge. UTAU also helped me with reading Japanese so I give a plus for that. *I rambled, Hope you enjoy reading*

That's I right on of what I think of utau! Very well explained! Its giving people all over the world the freedom to bring their characters to life with the freedom to create reclist for their characters and not only having it for English and Japanese. More languages are being made with utau than vocaloid

I think the main reason I've stuck with utau for all these years, (I've been in the fandom since 2012,) is because I've grown emotionally attached to my utau. I know that sounds pretty sad, but she was created while I was going through a pretty hard time in my life and I guess after all these years she was one of the few things I could hold on to. Sounds cheesy, but I'm emotionally attached to my utau and that's why I still work with her.

In middle school some songs helped me through times . Then during relapsing episodes of depression I came across PowaPowa P's songs . I didn't initially know vocaloid was singing androids at first but it was amazing people could use the programs as instruments .
Decided to learn in Summer of 2017 . Honestly have been turning to using the program for stress relief . Recorded with a classmate, two voicebanks very carefully on a nintendo ds . That file corruption though . Several times . Although was one pitch was recently recovered . Welp .
Recording is just not meant to be, so I just like popping into to do doodles if it makes people happy . There's also lot of interesting people I want to get to know . Fortunate to have avoided the toxic part of the community mostly and just want to have fun as long as I can .

I see! I understand! Vocaloid music is different from other music. It either has deep meanings/happy meanings or its a story. I'm glad you're trying! Always try and never give up at what you do!
