Anyone else wish their Utau could one day be a Vocaloid?

Sometimes I do dream about this and it’s not technically impossible. I mean before Ruby existed her voice provider had a Utau. But I’ve heard that actually making a Vocaloid voice bank is very expensive because of all the licensing. Seeing as I’m a broke college student I don’t think my dreams of voicing a Vocaloid will come true right now. Actually I’m not exactly sure how all the leagal stuff with all that even works. I’m sure some other people probably have the same dream as I have that will never be. We can cry together.

I don't know if I'd ever want to voice a vocaloid (or Utau for that matter), but I'm really interested in the process behind creating a vocaloid. Like learning how it differs between making Utau banks or what reclists they use and how they record. Those sorts of things.

I wouldn't want to voice a Vocaloid tbh mostly because with UTAU you are the one in control of managing the VB while with VOCALOID it's both the company and Yamaha who decide. And if Yamaha says "we are dropping support for the VOCALOID version you were made for" well, then, it's the end of the VB. And sure, you could upgrade but it's so expensive that sometimes studios just refuse, no matter how the voicer wants it (see : Miriam Stockley)

Also, I'm not sure I could handle it if the Vocaloid I had voiced flopped. To only see plug and play covers made with the pirated version the day of the vb release just to test it out and then never see "serious" covers with it would be a serious blow to my ego tbh ;;q;;

tl;dr : I wouldn't want to voice a Vocaloid because my self esteem is that low.

Still, don't give up your dream, you never know! I hope from the bottom of my heart that it will come true someday ~

Going back to talking about Miriam Stockley, it must be really hard to actually be able to voice a Vocaloid if she can’t even get the chance to update her Vocaloid. Like I know she wants to do it and many fans would love to see that but if that’s not enough to make a Vocaloid then it must be pretty hard for just a regular person to do it. I mean Miriam Stockley is a famous singer and she has voiced a Vocaloid before. If she’s having trouble then it must be difficult.

I just hope to be an official artist for voca-related stuff (like official song cover art and the like~)
If you want to illustrate for Vocaloid producers, there's nothing stopping you from going ahead right now. You could probably find plenty of musicians who are in need of artwork!

Thank you ! I'm slowly branching myself into the business side of art, for now I participate in CBs and the like as an illustrator. :smile: Someday, I'll reach my dream of being an illustrator for VocaPs!
