Free alternatives to aviult (or safe English patch)

Not an UTAU question but does anyone know any good free software for PV making? I wanted to get aviult but apparently there may potentially be some malware on it now (or at least the English patch has according to comments in this video.

The person who made it linked their own copy in the description but unfortunately I couldn't figure out how to get it to work in English.

Does anyone know any good alternatives (or a way to get an English patch for aviult safely?)

Thanks

I don't know much about Aviutl, but I use Shotcut. Other free software are Hitfilm (which has additional features you can pay for, but even the base effects are pretty good) and Davinci Resolve, which I haven't used much but have heard good things about.
Someone made another Aviutl tutorial here that might help if you still wanna give it a try. https://www.utaforum.net/threads/aviutl-basics-tutorial.16938

Hm... I have Davinci Resolve but it doesn't really run as well as it used to. Does Shotcut let you use things like layers?

Sorry for posting the same thing twice I'm not really used to using the reply function. Do you happen to know whether Shotcut uses layers?

If you mean video tracks, yeah, there are multiple tracks and you can put things on top of/under other things. In my opinion, it also runs better than Davinci Resolve, but it requires...a lot of creative thinking. That's the best way I can put it. I'm used to it by now so it doesn't give me many issues, but it takes a while to figure out.
Hitfilm is better than Shotcut if you ask me, but it's also too much for my laptop to handle so I've stuck with Shotcut.

Okay thanks! I'll check it out!

Shortcut user here. +1 in favour of it, especially if your computer/laptop can't handle stronger programs. The learning curve is a bit steep if you're coming from another program but it is simple enough that it doesn't take long to get the hang of it.
