So I just downloaded and installed utau. I changed the system locale, made sure the dot and decimals were in the right place, and I can make Defoko sing. However I can only make her sing "A" and if I try to change the lyric by typing in the lyric bar, or manually, it doesn't work and just greys out that note and makes it silent ?_? It also didn't work when I typed a - before the hiragana or with romaji ?_? So what's wrong? I am using the latest version on windows 10 please let me know what am I doing wrong? Thanks any help would be much appreciated! (This is also my first time using utau)

Grey notes are usually pauses/rests... Are you sure you're pushing the correct button (the left one - substitute lyric - from the three next to the lyric bar) instead of the "insert R(rest)"? Or by manually, you shouldn't need to do more than doubleclick the note, type in the lyric and click somewhere else/press enter to deselect the note's text input...
Defoko is a hiragana coded cv so I unless you have the bank aliased with romaji too, so using a - or such romaji additions wont help... Hmm!

Are you typing Japanese hiragana lyrics using the IME?

When you first type something, there will be a squiggly line underneath. This helps with typing regular Japanese words and sentences, because you can type out a full word in hiragana, then press the space bar and select the correct kanji. To confirm the word you typed, you need to press the Enter key. If you're only typing single syllables, you can just press the enter key immediately to confirm it.

Yes! Ok I figured it out! I was putting the lyrics after the notes. Duhh!! Now when I put the lyrics BEFORE the notes it works!! :D
