Very stuck on how to use both UTAU and OpenUtau

As the title says I'm pretty stumped. On UTAU I can navigate it fine, use plugins and such, however when it comes to using English CV I'm so lost. I have a masterlist saved but they only show a handful of sounds, I don't know how to make even basic words within the software and struggle to find tutorials on this. Someone in a Discord help chat recommended OpenUTAU as they said it'll translate the sounds for me. I downloaded it, added an updated version of a singer with CV and another with CVVC and can't get the software to work at all. The only sound it'll say is the word "no". I really don't know what to do on this software and how this software even works in translating your words. I have no idea what resampler to use so I just downloaded one called "doppeltler009", no idea what it does.

Any guidance at all would be greatly appreciated, please do bare with me as I'm very new to this all and may ask a lot of questions.

Thank you all.

First off, you've gotta let people smell the voicebank
Either way, have you checked the sound list?
1658433347300.png (right clicking in base UTAU, just somewhere blank)
Going into the Sound list brings up this window:
1658433396600.png (This is Teto's English bank, look at that scrollbar!)
This lets you have a gander at all the sounds UTAU recognizes the voicebank having

Double-clicking them puts it on the editor, as well as giving you a preview of the sample
I personally use moresampler but use whatever, utau also includes a stock resampler

Well for starters, your friends were incorrect. While OpenUtau does have phonemizers for various kinds of English voicebanks that allow you to type in English words, no such phonemizer exists for "CV English".

Secondly, you need to be more specific. There are about a billion formats called "CV English", usually made by people who aren't that well-acquainted with reclist making, or were used to make much older English voicebanks before there were popular codified formats. Generally speaking, they're usually not very good, because English isn't a language that really lends itself well to a CV-esque format. I would instead suggest that you look for a voicebank in a much more well-known English format, such "VCCV", "ARPAsing", or "Delta", each of which have a phonemizer available in OpenUtau that should help to simplify the process. I'll link some example VBs below:

VCCV ( Phonemizer [EN VCCV] ):
CZloid: http://utau.wikidot.com/utau:czloid
Sonata_ENG: http://utau.wikidot.com/utau:sonata
Anna Nyui -DIVA-: https://aoka45.wixsite.com/annanyui/english?lang=en

ARPAsing ( Phonemizer [EN ARPA] ):
Milk - English -: https://xepheris.wixsite.com/milk/voicebanks
Kurobousuku USA English ARPAsing ver 1.00: https://atsuya19960924.wixsite.com/akasubaru/複製-language2
eseph_en「ARPA」: https://esephvoice.wixsite.com/website/download

Delta ( Phonemizers [EN Teto], [EN Delta(Ver1)], and [EN Delta(Ver2)]. )::
Kasane Teto English CVVC ( Phonemizer [EN Teto] ): https://kasaneteto.jp/en-voicebank.html
Mumeion Konritsu English ( Phonemizer [EN Delta(Ver1)] ): https://duyanh110920024.wixsite.com/anhduyofficial/voicebank
Shione Lt. English CVVC ( Phonemizer: [EN Delta(Ver2)] ): https://shionesalt.wixsite.com/saltpan/blank

In case you don't know how to use phonemizers, click the button that probably says "DEFAULT" under the singer selection, open the "more" drop-down menu, and from there, you should be able to select a phonemizer.

You should be able to type in English words upon loading a phonemizer with a compatible singer. For multi-syllabic words that take up multiple notes, type the full word in the first note of the word, and then type [+] ( minus the brackets ) into the next notes ( Example, first note "hello", next note "+", etc. ).
OpenUtau also allows continuants as well ( "-" notes in synths like VOCALOID or SynthV, also known as "notebends" ), in the Delta and VCCV phonemizers, you can type them as [+~]. In the ARPAsing phonemizer, you type [+] and then a number on the last note of the continuant ( like [+4] ). The number depends on which phoneme you want the note to end on.
You can also type phonemes instead of words. For example:
ARPAsing: "hello[hh ah l ow]" or "[hh ah l ow]"
VCCV: "hello[h u l O]" or "[h u l O]"
DELTA: "hello[h V l oU]" or "[h V l oU]"

And so on.

I downloaded Teto's English CVVC, seems to work a lot better just still takes me time to get my head around the different phonemes. Thanks for the advice  Just trying to figure out now how to use vibrato and stuff in OpenUtau but that'll come with experience

Sorry, I can't seem to find how to do this in Open Utau, I've managed to get Teto's english working more or less though, thanks for the advice

In Open Utau you can check the soundlist by going to Tools>Singers..., and making sure the right voicebank is selected. It will then show you all their available sounds. With Phonemizers though this is less crucial since you can usually just type in the word. ^^

I've found the list, and when I go to write words it also automatically shows me the list of phonetics. Still however, I'm having issues where I still cannot get a lot of words to work even in phonetic versions. The word "the" is a crucial one which I can't seem to find out how to make work, I am currently practicing on Teto's English CVVC singer.

I know for a fact if you use the tetoen phonemizer (which you should be using instead of going fully manual) just typing in "the" will make her sing the.
The phonemized result look like this, so her "Th" phoneme is D, which may be why you couldn't find it manually.
