Resolved Selling songs and albums against the rules?

Recently someone in the community told me that it was against the rules to sell utau songs, or anything regarding songs made with utau. (For example: if you were to make a game and or movie featuring a song or make an album you couldn't monetize it.) I was wondering if this was accurate? I don't think so but I could be totally in the wrong seeing as I'm a noob.

If the creators of the UTAUloid allow commercial works, and you have permission, then yes it is allowed. As long as everything in the song/album used was with permission, it should be fine. Covers are a definite no-no. That should be a given, though. Just putting it out there.

What do you mean covers are a no no? What if you have permission from the original creator of the song? To put it on the album or in the movie or something? (I am doing a project that may use covers and I have permission from the original song creators to do this, so this is very important to know)

Oh, as long as you have permission to sell the covers then that's fine too. Most producers don't like covers of their songs being sold, so it seems like it'd be rare to get permission.

Oh I know I've had to pay for some of the rights to a few, contracts and stuff as well this is a big project. But that's all I'll say about it for now.

Yeah, most that do allow it will make you pay for rights.
Which I have no issue with. I mean if you work hard on something and someone else wants to use it it's only fair that they pay for it. (In my opinion).

Yep, I agree completely!
Great! ^.^ I personally make a lot of projects and though most of them are available to watch or listen to for free if someone wanted to use one of my projects or make money off them for whatever reason I would probably charge as well. So ya I try to support indie artists and am totally fine with paying for rights cus I know where they are coming from. ^.^ Plus I would feel bad if I didn't :l.

Ahh same. Sadly, most people get upset when artists don't allow them to sell covers though, ah.
