So, I'm making a character one of my friends made for me (It was myself in vocaloid/UTAUloid form) so he can be "REAL" and I have made all of the hiragana that are required to sing "Shake it!" originally sang by Mikuuuuuuu and it works sound to hiragana wise, but he sounds like T R A S H, like, its BAD, so bad that I really don't like it and I kinda need some advice, please keep in mind that this is the alpha or "Raw" Form of Tree Sounds (Like his name? :D ) (It's kinda like IA Rocks) anyway please help it is very appreciated.

People could probably assist you better if you have a sample of his voice. Could you upload one?

Render the wav file of your UTAU singing Shake It! (Project -> Render WAV), upload it to site like Soundcloud or clyp.it, and link it here.
I'm on it

Do you have anything running that produces noise in your samples when you record?

Have you generated an FRQ for all samples?

Some things to consider: your microphone. Not always the rule, but generally, cheap microphones sound... cheap. A webcam microphone will not have the same quality as a Blue Yeti, which will not have the same quality as a high end Shure microphone.
Make sure you're keeping your voice steady and consistent when you record. Your samples should be at least 1.5 seconds long, and they should all be on the same note.
It sounds like your OTO needs some work. A good OTO can make a voicebank sound much better.

Side note: you've a strong accent, especially in your 'r's. Japanese 'r's are not like English 'r's.

how are Japanese r's pronounced, because in luka luka night fever there isn't an l in the vsq so they say ru-ka ru-k ni-ight fe-ba

I am unsure. ^ ^; What resampler are you using, just the default one?
yes the default but I am in the process of re-sampling my voice... so I'm hoping that will help

Japanese 'r's are technically a mix between English 'r's and 'L's. The hard 'r' sound in English doesn't exist. This is a video to show how Japanese 'r's are pronounced. An English 'L' is closer, but not 100% accurate.

Aside from the accent, here are things that may be affecting your UTAU

1. If you don't use a mic and instead use the built in mic in your laptop.

The samples sound unclear, but it may also be background noise

A bank can still sound decent even with recordings made without a mic (as long as there isn't too much background noise. It'll always be fuzzier sounding though) but the oto and pronunciation have to be well done.

2. The oto

Frankly It's hard to understand and really choppy, I would assume the oto needs work.

3. The recording style

Correct me if I'm wronh, but it sounds like it's a cv. CV can still sound good but it needs a good oto and even then will likely always be more choppy sounding than other recording styles unless you're like an oto master.

Coupled with the accent and unclear recordings- eh, you may want to re-record in a different style.

4. Configuration

It sounds like your utau is singing kind of outside of their range. You might want to move the ust down an octave. Also, what flags are you using? They could be making your utau sound less clear.

5. It also sounds like it has frq errors. You might want to fix them or have someone else look at them.

Hopefully that's a bit helpful;;

I could take a look at the bank and try to fix some of the oto if you'd like 0v0; I wouldn't be able to fix frqs though. I use utau synth

once i'm done re-recording I can send you the file via email (Do you want it zipped?)
also I really did try to drag the song down an octave (12 chromatic pitches or 8 whole steps) but it didn't work

Sure :0. You could also just pm me if you'd prefer

And ah, yeah some monopitch utau's ranges are harder to work with. Maybe you could lower the ust half an octave then lower the instrumental to fit it?

Hi ! The SoundCloud URL isn't working anymore, so I don't know if your Utau has the same proplem as mine.. :annoyed:
Um, I made an Utau, too, and like you, she sounds terrible.. Idk why, and how to fix it. I've oto'ed my vb, and I have a pretty good mic, I make her sing with a flag : C99. My Utau isn't trash ( i hope so ) bcause she can sing pretty good but there are some syllables she can't pronounce correctly, like "shi' "cho" "yo" fu" and a few others which sounds like a dying robot ;-;
.. Can someone help me? pwease? ;w;

Oh, yeah! How can I do it? ( ..sorry I'm new here and don't know how to send things like this ;-; )
It's fine! You can save it by going to Project -> Render Wave File, and then you can post it by uploading it onto Vocaroo Or Clyp.it (or whatever you're comfortable with), then post the link here ^^
