How do I pronounce 'P' sounds in a Japanese CV

So I know how to pronounce it, but it's more that whenever I make the kind of P sound (pa, pe, pi, po, pu} it makes the mic pop and it just doesn't work. I don't have a pop filter or anything so what's the solution.

Also, unrelated but does anybody have any cvvc Spanish, cvvc English and cvvc Japanese reclists (along with their pronunciation guides) and maybe an otoing tutorial for it?

If you put a finger in front of your lips while you record your P's, it should help with the popping

Your mic shouldn't pop if your P's aren't aspirated. If you don't blow out any air while you record your samples, then that should stop, i know it did for me

Thanks for the tips!

Sorry to be so annoying too but what about the Japanese R? I get that there's a lot of threads on the subject but I just can't seem to get it. (also if anyone has the cv vc things like in my post too..)

For some reason, none of the Soundcloud links seem to load/work for me on this website.

jp R is like a mix between d and l

you can put a sock on your microphone as a makeshift pop filter (it works lol)

When you make the English 'r' sounds, the tongue is out of the equation.

When you make the English 'l' sound, your tongue hits the very front of your teeth.

To make the Japanese 'r', try flicking the tongue on the top of your mouth at the consonant of the 'l'.

I hope this helped.

I keep trying to do the r sound, hopeless. I noticed that a lot of people say like a non triled Spanish R, some like a d+l, etc, all different things.

the japanese R sound can be made as a non-trilled Spanish R. When saying "Ra, Ri, Ru, Re," etc touch the very tip of your tongue to the roof of your mouth juuuust behind your front teeth, and this is the correct pronunciation. Don't make it too harsh sounding Like a D. And don't make it sound like an L.

If you speak American English, I've heard r being described as the "tt" in "butter". The tongue tap. Never looked back, even if my pronunciation may be wrong :,D

late to the party but even non-aspirated p sounds can "pop" a microphone. They are very sensitive :-)
you might want to angle the mic a tiny bit so any air goes "across" rather than directly at the mic.

for the "r". there are some words and phrases that might help you. "buTTer/beTTer", "bada bing bada boom", "coddle", "puddle", "subtle", "get in", etc.

If I can't exactly get the r sound, is there anything that sound similar that I can do instead?

english "L's" sound almost the same

In reality it depends on what vowel follows it, but if you really can't pronounce it, what caustic said is your best bet. Or else if you're familiar with Spanish, a Spanish r.

The way I usually describe it is having your tongue curled back like an r, touching the roof of your mouth like an l, and fast like tt in 'butter (or the t's and d's in any of the words caustic listed)

The whole 'butter' thing is kinda hard, being a British English speaker..we still kinda do something like it.
