Hello and salutations

Hi, I'm Zakle. It's not actually my name but it's a handle I've been using for a few years now. I've been interested in Vocaloid since I was a child, and I will, hopefully, be buying my first one in a month or so.

This is probably the most lackluster introduction I've ever done. Sorry about that.

Oooh nice, may i know what vocaloid you're planning to buy, if you don't mind?

I hope you have a nice stay here!

Welcome to UtaForum! Check out these songwriting resources to kick-start your Vocaloid fun.
Until your Voca arrives, try to create an UTAU voicebank. It'll be fun!

Thank you for the link. I'll most likely use the resources for writing lyrics. Please forgive me for asking, I'm kind of rusty on information, but what is an UTAU? I know I've heard the term but never looked further into it.

No, it's perfectly fine to ask. I'm stuck between Gumi and Macne Nana but I'm leaning more towards Gumi.

UTAU (pronounced as "you-toot") is a system for creating fart sounds.... lolol jk
UTAU is a singing synthesis system, just like Vocaloid, but it's free and it supports user-generated voicebanks. There is an upgrade that can be purchased for it, but it's fully functional without the upgrade and there are plugins that can take its functionality even further. For example, there is a free middleman application called presamp that lets you use VCVs and some CVVCs as CVs without sacrificing the quality (AKA. it turns UTAU into VOCALOID).

Hello, welcome to UtaForum! Dangosan gave a pretty good explanation of UTAU as a whole, so I'm just going to link to some other resources in case you ever want to try recording a voicebank. Feel free to ask around if you have any questions, there's usually someone online that can help.
Congratulations on buying a Vocaloid, by the way! I'd say to go with GUMI, but I'm kind of biased ^^;
