Hello, my UTAU will only sing a thumping sound when he tries to sing a certain note

Hello. I'm new to UTAU, and I like it so far. But when my UTAU tries to sing "shu", only a thumping noise comes out. This has happened to me before, but resetting the 周波数 doesn't work like it did there. I checked, the file is there, and it even played for me when I clicked on 原音の設定 , but he just won't sing. He also suddenly can't sing a note he did sing fine before after I changed the oto since it sounded wrong. Help?

Hi, welcome to UtaForum!

This might not be the issue, but maybe try raising the volume on that file? If it's too quiet, UTAU may not be able to generate an .frq for it, and it'll make a weird "thump" noise instead. (This also tends to happen with breath files.)

As for the note that your UTAU can't sing anymore... can you provide a screenshot of the oto?

Ah! Sorry for the late reply!
[doublepost=1550066566][/doublepost]the issue popped up in another UTAU I'm currently working with. Though sorry, I don't understand what an oto.ini configuration is... I'll try raising the volume. Though do you mean a screenshot of the oto itself?
[doublepost=1550066620][/doublepost]And thanks!
[doublepost=1550066739][/doublepost]I will also note that it's an UTAU I made out of a character song of an anime character. Could that maybe have to do with it?
[doublepost=1550067550][/doublepost]Wait... how do I raise the volume on the file?!

Yes, a screenshot of the oto itself might be useful! (the oto.ini configuration is the same as the oto, it's just an abbreviation)

And that might have something to do with it. I'm not really sure what you mean by making the UTAU out of a character song, but if the instrumental is in the file, it'll probably cause the program to do some weird stuff to it.

Open the file in an audio software, such as Audacity. You should be able to raise the volume and re-export the file from there. If it's already at/near maximum volume, though, then don't worry about it.

Okay, I’ll try to send it. Like, an oto in file explorer?
Well, I used a program called Utagoe to extract vocals from songs to make otos out of them (Hetalia characters specifically. The one that first acted up was my Ludwig UTAU, now my freshly-created Feliks UTAU is doing it too. And lots of it. Like half of his lines are thumps...). Though whatever I do I can’t get rid of annoying static in the background, I try to work with otos with the least amount of static.
I tried, but it didn’t work.

If this is your first time using UTAU, I highly recommend working with existing UTAU voicebanks that are well recorded and configured, or to record your own voice. Extracting vocals from songs and anime is not only very difficult for beginners, but against UTAU's usage policy if you do not have the consent of the original singer.

Well... but I really want to use those voices. I really, really do. They’re pretty much why I started doing this.
Is there a way to fix the thumping at least?
[doublepost=1550173999][/doublepost]Also, the sounds themselves play when I click on them in File explorer. So it can’t be the files themselves that are wrong.

Okay, so I'll try to show the problem otos. I'm supposed to show the files themselves, right? I don't know what can be discerned from them, though.
But wait, it seems that I can't put screenshots on here either! What should I do?

[doublepost=1550460365][/doublepost]Maybe the random spikes at the end are the problem?

Could you zip up those specific wav files and let me look at them? It looks to me like they're just consonants, but that last one doesn't look like it's even a 'g'. What happens when you double click the P button to play them?

It could be the spikes, but more so than that, it looks like UTAU can't generate an .frq file because it can't find the singer's voice in the WAV. Notes won't play without frqs.
I might've missed something, but is the instrumental audible in that file? It may be functioning as "static," and that'll prevent the note from playing properly. The issue then would be that it can be difficult to extract vocals from instrumentals.

You may have better luck creating an UTAU using your own voice ^^; Like Kiyoteru said, creating voicebanks from anime/songs is really hard, especially when you're new to all of this. It's pretty much impossible sometimes (this may be one of those times, but I'm not sure).

The thing is, there is a circle in the "frq" spot. I made sure that the sounds are very much audible.

Do you mean I should send it ot you? And what's the P button?

The P button. It'll play anything for a specific alias that is within the cutoff regions. There's no cutoff region here, so the whole file will play, but anyway.

don't look like they have any vowels at all to me. I know you said you generated frq files for them, but I don't see them in those screencaps. They appear as an orange line over the blue wav form, like this:
upload_2019-2-19_8-50-18.png

If you double click the P button in my first image, it'll play whatever that wav file is. It doesn't look like there's a vowel in it, or maybe it was recorded at a sample rate UTAU doesn't like and that's why it's appearing that way. I'd like to have your wav files on my laptop personally so I can look at all of them. If you place them into a zip folder, which you can do by putting all of them into one folder, right clicking on the folder they are in, and hitting 'send to zip' or using another archiver program like 7-Zip, you can upload the zip file to various file sharing sites like MediaFire, Mega.nz, Dropbox, Google Drive, BowlRoll, etc, and then paste a link in your post or message the link to me personally if you aren't comfortable with everyone having access to it.
