How to set up a voicebank to use multi-prefix?

I'm trying to add some new appends to just one voicebank and wanted to use the multi-prefix of the presamp however every time I try to set up and test an append it does not emit any sound or in some cases it gives me a textbox with an error .

Anyone know of some tutorial or could you explain me how to set it up right?

You need to make sure you're setting up the prefix map to match aliases in the oto file.

For example.

I have a pitch aliased with A3.

In the prefix map settings I make my A3 pitch auto-activate within a certain range.

You don't have to set things up with a prefix map. That's just in the case you have multiple pitches and want UTAU to switch between them by itself. If you want to have something like a power append or soft append add-on make sure you've suffixed them how you want, and when you want to use them in a UST highlight all the notes you want to apply them to, go to Tools, Built-in Tools, Suffix Broker. Then type the suffix for the bank you want to use at that part.

hmm, is that in my case I have 1 voicebank with the pitchers (c3, e3, a3, c4) and an append with the pitchers (d3, a3, c4, g4) and they recommended me to use the "multi-prefix" use these two voicebanks as if it were 1

I am not too well-versed with presamp but according to this article
https://ch.nicovideo.jp/delta_kimigatame/blomaga/ar523255
all you have to do is to make a folder named prefix in the same location as character.txt and place the append .map files in it.

Naming of the .map files are as follows
E.g. if you have append oto such as "さsoftC4", "さsoftA4", name the file, soft.map
if you have append oto such as "さ_softC4", "さ_softA4", name the file, _soft.map

If the prefix interface does not work for alias inputs, I guess you can always try editing the .map files using notepad

What partial said is true as well; The main point is to get the aliases correct. Or else there will be no sound output.

I didn't realize presamp had its own sort of prefix/mapping system so I'm sorry if my previous post was unhelpful.

I will look into it. Hopefully Zany's post will be of use to you!
