So, I thought it would be an interesting idea to tune with modulation! I think the result is quite decent.

Here's what it looks like:

How to tune with modulation:

First, you'll need the plugin pitch tracer.

DL for pitch tracer: http://z-server.game.coocan.jp/utau/utautop.html#pitedit

Step 1: Clear all tuning.

Step 2: Select a section of notes you want to work on.

Step 3: Open pitchedit.

Step 4: Adding modulation.

Click MOD

These are the settings I used for this cover:

Step 5: Correcting pitch, adding tuning.

So the tuning will probably be off pitch for some samples. To improve work flow, I first correct all the off pitch samples.

Now that the pitches are mostly correct, I use the beginning parts of modulation to give me a guide as to where the consonants and vowel endings are.

And bam, you're done. Listen and refine accordingly.

oh that's interesting!! i'm going to be honest before i clicked play i was expecting an off pitch mess but that was some banger tuning right there. also great song choice lmao

i do my tuning a similar way, except instead of using pitch trace's modulation i'd set the modulation directly from the note property, and then edit pitchbends as needed with pitch trace. Merry Kohaku is the UTAU i do this most with, and i find that setting her modulation to 20 and then correcting any off key parts through pitchbends can get some really fun results.

but here it looks like you set the modulation much higher than 20 (if i'm looking at this right). i'm going to bookmark this thread because i'm very curious to try this method out!!! to be honest i didn't actually know pitch tracer could edit modulation )) /embarrassed

I used to use that method as well! The only reason why I switched to this method was because most UTAU voicebanks aren't as well recorded as Kohaku and don't stay on pitch with 20 mod.
