Critique Requested Two covers I made with lots of frustration

For the first one, the voice feels a bit out of sync and the instrumental overpowers her a lot. Defoko is a very airy UTAUloid so you're not gonna get a crispy clear sound from her, but I recommend searching for mixing tutorials here. While mixing, I usually keep a track with the original song for reference and try to get the vocal track to sync with it as closely as possible--- same with the instrumental track. Once they are all synced, I mute the track with the original song. If you're using an instrumental track where it's just one track without the vocals, I recommend not adding any effects to it as it is already mixed, but instead try to make the vocal track sound like it fits with the instrumental---again, keep the original song in a separate track for reference!

For the second one, I've already commented on it. Blend the notes a bit more

You could also try a VCV voicebank which is made so that the notes flow together nicer.

Hello!

Your first cover's voice track was a bit out of sync with the instrumental. You can improve this by keeping the original song as a track while you're mixing, so you can have a clear reference. Also, I think the instrumental could be a bit quieter. Defoko is a very hard voicebank to use succesfully, so don't worry! You will get better with time.

About the second cover, I think a VCV voicebank would suit best that type of songs. You should blend the notes and overlap them, so it doesn't sound so robotic. VCV voicebanks make the transition between note and note softer and more natural. The mixing was good tho

I hope this can help. Keep going!

Thank you for the advice! How do you 'keep the original song as a track' though? Not sure if I understand what that means,, sorry

You just have to download the original song and insert it as a track in the mixing project. Here, let me show you how:

Let's say the orange track is the original song with vocals and everything. The other files are the voice tracks and the instrumental. That can help a lot to sync the tracks. Try it, it is the best technique
