UTAU-synth crashing and setParam error

Hello! I'm a mac user who's trying to make a voice bank. I want to use setParam, but it comes up with an error about "extra characters after close-brace while executing", and nothing I'm doing is fixing it... so I'm going to try and use UTAU-synth instead. The problem is, is that whenever I try and open up the Voicebank Settings, it works for a bit, and then the whole program crashes if I click something wrong. It's something I could work with, but would just be super painful in the long run.
Does anyone know how to fix setParam or UTAU-synth?

Did you change your locale to Japanese when downloading? I've never had this issue so I'm not sure how to help. What OS do you have? I'm in 10.10, so maybe it's an issue for newer ones??

I didn't, I'm not sure how to? The tutorials out there are just for windows users, and the ones for mac are for older versions. I'm also on 10.13.6, so maybe that's a factor?

I use a wineskin version of setparam (wine basically mimics windows so the app can run) which works fine for me. For Utau-Synth, try adding Japanese to your computer's languages then redownload it and install it.
