It might also have something to do with the .oto and frequency files. UTAU-Synth tends to crash with WIP voice banks. It hates having to render new frequency files for new notes while using old files from previously rendered notes (if that makes sense). For instance, if you've already played the note "a" (so it has a frequency file) and then try to render both "a," "be," and "ju" together, it will crash. You'd have to select and render the other two notes individually before you can play them all together. But don't worry, you'll only have to do this for the first time you use your bank. Once every note has been individually rendered once, you'll never have to deal with it again.

At least, that's how it's worked in my experience. ono;;

Recently i tried to make her a new voice bank so, i tried to edit the freq files . .and it keeps crashing wenever i try to add the hirigana  . . . :sad:(

I found your problem. ovo;;

Is this your first time making a .oto.ini file? Because there are some serious problems here. Mainly, your consonant (the pink region) is way, way, way too long.

If you didn't know already, the consonant, pink, or "Fixed" region is the portion of the note that is kept at the same speed and length no matter what. It's there to ensure that on long notes your UTAU doesn't unintentionally stretch out the consonant and turn "ka" into "kkkkkkhaaaaaah." You should only really use it to cover up the consonant and a bit of the vowel. With how far you've stretched it out (past the the Blank region even), there's no room for UTAU to stretch the note any more, and that's what's causing it to crash.

I see a few other problems in there, but they're not too major. It's mostly just the consonant. And other than that, it's good for a first try.

In fact, would you mind if I gave .oto'ing her a shot? I'd like to see how she runs when she's programed correctly. ovo

I started using UTAU-Synth several months ago, and I really really love it ^^
It is easier to use and has better user interface.

I have a question,
I've already finished my first utau that I OTO-ed using UTAU-Synth. But a Mac's utau VB cannot be used in Windows, right? So what should I do? Should I re-OTO it again in WinUTAU?

I... honestly have not figured that out yet. But, my experimental theory so far is to bring them over into WinUTAU, render them saying "a" or something so the bank generates a .oto file. Then, bring it back over to the Mac, open up both the .oto.ini.txt (the Mac file) and the .oto.ini (the PC file) and then copy pasta over everything. Then, assuming that it works, you may or may not have to re-render the frequency files and such.

But it's only a theory. Give it a shot and tell me if it works. :uhm:

It might be the .oto.ini, not to mention that UTAU-Synth can be very picky at times. Keep experimenting with the .oto and see if you can't get it to work. It may just be that UTAU-Synth really doesn't like your voice. ono;;

[sub][sub][sub][sub]No, really. There's something about the pitch of my own voice that UTAU-Synth hates with a burning passion and turns into ear-shattering distortion when played.[/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub]

Okay guys. I have a quick question. Is there such thing as pitchbends in UTAU-Synth
Yeah! It should work like in UTAU-Win! Right(Command)-Click on a pitchbend box to get a new pitchbend box, or change the pitchbend curve type, then drag it around!

Make sure Portamento is checked when you Command/Right click a note.

In that case, no.
UTAU-Synth only uses its built in resampler atm. There's no way to make it use the variety of Win-UTAU resamplers. I'm not sure if this is an UTAU-Synth thing, or a Win vs Mac thing.

Hey guys!  I just got a Macbook Pro from school!  I finally get to test out UTAU-Synth.  So far, I like how simple it looks, but the lack of P2P3 and only using default resampler is disappointing.  I also find it annoying to use VCV banks, because it also shows the file name next to the lyric.  Also, for some reason I can't really use the english patch.

Anyway, I'm gonna start making an UTAU-Synth compatible version of Mita Souzou so that all you guys can use her too.

@poundthemochi Multiple desktops! MULTIPLE DESKTOPS! THIS MAC IS SO FREAKING AWESOME!

For me, Windows-made/configured voicebanks work fine in UTAU-Synth. I wonder why you feel the need to make an 'UTAU-Synth' compatible bank...

The file name? Really? That can be changed, actually.

Down in the left corner underneath the piano keys and next to the envelope editor should be a button with a capital "L" on it. Just click that and the file name next to the note should change to either the alias of the note or get rid of it entirely. I usually keep it at the alias so I can tell what sample is being used. ouob

Well actually I'm recording an entirely new bank for Mita, but I'm to lazy to get my other computer.  So I guess it's Mita Souzou ACT 1.5 Mac.

Also, I finished my new reclist!  I'll release it when I finish recording the new bank and making OTOs.

I'm actually really new to the UTAU-Synth stuff haha..

I originally started with the PC UTAU because my family had given me old PC laptops to use.. but eventually they crashed and I had nothing to use for UTAU for like, months.  It was really sad actually xD  I thought I would never be able to work with UTAU again, since my family refuses to buy me a PC laptop, and I could only work with an old Mac laptop..  I was really worried about my UTAU becoming deceased and had remembered hearing about there being an UTAU for the Mac and immediately searched for it

I swear I almost cried when I saw that there was one ;w;
I quickly downloaded everything and it seems to work fine.  Like I said though, I'm still really new (downloaded it a day or so ago xD )

In my opinion it seems really nice (so far, with the little bit of messing around I've done).  Really clean.  I like the format a little better than the PC UTAU.  And I think it sounds smoother with my UTAU too ^^

Is there going to be any more updates to make it more like the PC UTAU?  I'm just wondering..

Okay, to address you, @Adlez27 :

1. P2P3 etc. is already included in UTAU-Synth automatically, no need to do it manually.
2. You can change the alias as the filename by pressing the "L" (Lyric) in the bottom left of the Interface.

3. The english Patch is not yet updated to UTAU-Synth build 17
4. Windows voicebanks are read automatically on mac, no conversion is needed in that way.

All right all right, I already knew.  That was posted back when I very first started out.  But I do have some news about UTAU-Synth now.

Over the Christmas break, we handed back our computers so that the school could do updates.  But one of the things that changed is that we can no longer use any of our own apps.  Know what it means?  I can no longer use UTAU-Synth.  My personal computer, which has WinUTAU, has been confiscated by my parents, so basically UTAU for me is now at an end.

I won't worry too much though.  I took a similar Winter-to-Summer hiatus last year, and I'm sure I'll get my personal computer back at the end of the school year.  But in case I can't, this'll have to be goodbye to UTAU.

Maybe someday I can come back.

@Adlez; that blows!

I just bought my first Mac a couple of days ago, and am learning how to use UTAU Synth. However, I do plan on dual-running Windows on here via bootcamp, so I'll be switching back and forth between the two. Still, it will be fun to have some experience with this version of UTAU. I'm currently working on transferring all of my files over to the new laptop.
