I don't count macnes because their not really utaus...

...now ain't that a contradiction...no, not really...maybe...
---

I personally (if i actually did it...derp) ,would make the main voice downloadable for free but provide extras for a price...a penny (lol, i suck) OH wait, I almost forgot...EACH SET...

...lol, NO...that would be so pointless I can see strait with the though...
---
...High quality voicebanks, maybe with large amounts of pitches (RAAAAAAAANGE, so much, yes.) ...I would buy one...

(of couse the price must work with the voicebank)
EX:
generic sounding, only cv, poor otos, only minimal sounds, etc = lower price

more/less unique, multiple uses, vcv, LOTS of pitches, pro recording, comes with a free toaster waffle = JACK DAT' UP!

... of-course going into the hundreds would be pointless, in that case I would rather get a vocaloid(not saying their better...just, uh...idk, would rather get something I KNOW works well and not risk my money...)

I could only see buying an UTAU if it was a full CV VC English one.

I believe that people are free to sell their own voicebanks. How they go about it is their choice and whether it will sell or not does not really affect the fact that they're free to sell their own voice (samples) if they wish.

Wouldn't there be an issue there?
I mean, if they used painted-Cz's reclist wouldn't that mean then need her permission to sell a voicebank based on it?(and not just change the characters around to hide the fact they used her reclist)

I the reclist was made by the company/person selling the bank then sure, but wouldn't it be an issue in that case?
(OH WAIT! OOOORR.... vcv-vc english xD)

Alright. Since I know the site's manager is most likely going to read this, I have a few words for her. Just so you know, I don't intend to be mean or a bully in any of the things I say here. I'm just a rather blunt and kinda cynical person, so my statements may come across as rude, but I don't intend for them to be.

First up: If so many people were going to such lengths to discuss a project of mine in a negative manner, I'd stop to see what I'm doing wrong. While not everyone here is neccesarily super friendly, they all just want to help. It may be a little hard for you believe because of some of the rude statements that were made (yes, I honestly believe some were a bit much), but it's true. Communities don't grow big and strong if they're made up of hateful and mean people.

Second: Calling out specific users and their comments sure as heck isn't good for an image. There are some ways you can vent (for lack of a better word) about them without having an overly negative impact, but being overly defensive and even rude isn't one of them.

Lastly: Justification has its place. You were right to explain the reasoning behind Piku Hachune's nickname being 'the free version of Miku,' but sometimes trying to defend your actions makes things worse. For example, even though you may not have stolen the name Rina Tachibana (don't worry, I believe you), simple defense isn't going to keep people from accusing you in the future. There are some vicious people out there, and they can and will use the fact she shares a name with an anime character to their advantage. A slight name change honestly wouldn't hurt, but if you're fond of her current name then keep it. Just be aware of the problems it may cause for you in the future.

I don't think you are a bad person, I just believe you are going about this wrong and need some help.

That is all, and sorry for such a lengthy post. I honestly have no real problems with the selling of Voicebanks if they are of exceedingly high quality, BTW.

I'm going to make no comment on this "Project-H" argument and stick to the general topic of selling UTAU:

I think a lot of you are forgetting that Teto Kasane is now available on iTunes. As in, people are paying money for her songs. I don't know the details, but I'm assuming some sort of licensing is involved in this, and I have no idea how any of that works, but my point is: it's happening.

Secondly, there IS the shareware version of UTAU, which you pay for. Yes, UTAU's main goal is to be a free software, but you CAN purchase it.

I don't think there's anything wrong with selling voicebanks, you just have to make sure you have all the needed permission and whatnot. Quality is obviously what would make you want to buy a voicebank, but it's not like someone HAS to create a quality voice bank in order to put it up for sale, so long as they have everything else in order. Putting up low-quality stuff seems absurd, but it happens constantly in the "real world" and the "real" market.

I mean no offense to anyone but
Why the frig is this even happening here
You turned a question into a thread to bash one person, and then you laugh when they reply?
You like the bank, cool, buy it, you don't? Move on
No offense but this seems like it got WAY too out of hand

+1 :T

People do whatever they want. If someone want to sell a bank, well sell it, nobody will download it anyway. So why bothering. Like you all said a bank worth selling is a bank with something more. Then why bothering about that. Ah... I like when the problem is solved but the people still arguing =v=

Whoa, some of you guys aren't showing off your best behaviour, do work on that.

As for selling voice banks, I think that's up to the individual user. There are examples of libraries being sold already mentioned in this thread, heck, I've bought a voice library for UTAU before. Thing is, the overseas "fandom" is really spread out, we have people from all over the world, and we still don't sum up to quite the same amount of fans that are in Japan.
I believe it's a lot easier to sell a bank in Japan, but even then that too would be a lot of trouble. You'll have to get some kind of reputation so people know of you, and then assume that only a fraction of the people that LIKE the bank (note I said like, not know of) will actually buy it.
If you want to make money off of UTAU I'd suggest either composing songs and selling them or working out some kind of donation system for your work.

Okay, this thread is getting a bit out of hand.
Since all the main points seem to have been discussed, I'm locking the thread to prevent further issue.
