Help making an UTAU??

I have been using UTAU for 2 months now, and since then, I have become somewhat experienced. So, I thought it'd be time for making my first UTAU. I have used three microphones, two voice providers, audacity, fl studio, watched every tutorial available, manipulated flags, the oto.ini, BRE, pitch, volume, everything, but I haven't been able to make a single decent sounding note in UTAU. I know how to set an oto, from when I purchased a few macloids from macne.net..
I have tried everything, but I can't keep them from sounding like demonic robots :s.. I have already made 2 fail UTAUs.. So, what I want to know is, if there is anything I am missing here? Is it my voice? What kind of microphone do you use? Is there an alternative to using your voice? (highly doubt that one).. Because I am at my wit's end, and I really want to make at least 1..

Yeah, this could be a bunch of things. Please provide a sample. And without background music, please.

This is what the regular a wav sample sounds like in UTAU at C4.

Now this is the same a sample, except this time, its not in UTAU, (how I originally recorded it) I eliminated background noise in audacity, and used a somewhat decent mic-
I tried several times altering things like the BRE, the oto, resampler, my tone of voice, and the size of sample, but I always get the same result

hmmmm....I can only suggest a few things, if this is a bug or something then I don't recognize it V_V

- first off, use default resampler when you're trying to sort this out, since it's the most stable.
- Regenerate the frequency map for your "a". If you aren't already, then do this using an older version of UTAU (like 2.76), cause I've heard that there's issues with the frequency tables made in 0.4.
- And clear any flags/breathiness settings, leave that configuration until later.
- your sample is kind of short, and I think the resampling is suffering for it 8/ Cut off the right side before the sample starts to weaken, and ideally everything in the white space should have a consistent sound (indicated by a balanced pitch line/consistent volume). It's okay if the white space is a little small as long as everything in it is consistent (and you don't have it reduced to a sliver).
- (you use Macnes? 8O kindred spirit! I'll note that Macne samples are pretty long, ludicrously long actually. That,, probably isn't relevant right now, I guess...)
- Annd to be safe: in the editor, select all notes (CTRL+A), go to the note property (CTRL+E), and set mod to 0. This is a sort of pitch-correction.

I hope something in there helps! ^^

Thanks for the help! ^^
I was able to re-record and test out different sample lengths. It turns out that my voice might have been too deep, and that made it sound weird. I actually found that short, but not too short sample were what worked best for me
