Yamaha: VOCALOID 4 Engine

So from a image Holly sent to me on skype, this could entail that a V4 update is due soon? The V3 editor isn't old, and was released some odd 3? years ago? Why would V4 be coming into play so soon? Does this mean the new engine was used for the rendering of Ruby's vocals, or is Ruby Alpha based from the V3 engine? This has me all worked up.. ;-;

So I assume that Luka maybe one of the last V3 Vocals. Do you think V2's will be supported by the new software? Any info or news, help keep us updated here!

Wait, I thought PowerFX didn't have any role to play with her development at this point? Last I heard Syo said it was just VocaTone. I'm so confused :bigtears: Quit playing games with my heaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaart

Well, it makes some sense as Vocaloid2 was released 4 years after Vocaloid, and Vocaloid3 was released 5 years after Vocaloid2 but... what happens with Luka? and the Kagamines?

I'll auto-reply myself. I think/hope that what Yamaha and other companies (if they have still some Vocaloid in advanced production) will keep doing these VB for Vocaloid3 and later on give any discount pack for those who buy V4 engine.

But another question I clearly don't know what may happen, will Yamaha do like Gamefreak with Pokémon (aka only allow the latest generation/V3 VBs to be imported onto V4)?

I think that Luka and MAYBE Rin/Len V3 will be some of the last V3 vocals, and then Crypton can work on Miku V4. The CHNloids will either be late V3 or early V4... I do hope we get some V4 updates to the Engloids like Sweet Ann and Iroha, because I think they'd be godly.

I can't help but wonder how the V4 engine will be different from V3. I hope it will handle power more., alot of the V3 voices where soft-ish for some reason.

Pump the brakes for a second cause this seems weird to me...first, I thought PFX didn't have a hand in Ruby atm? Second, how come Bil is allowed to say when the V4 engine will be out(vague 'soon' aside) but we haven't heard about it from Yamaha?? And third...are we sure this isn't an update to V3...like why is it V.4 instead of V4 unless it's a typo...

There's too many "Wait a minute..."'s about this and I don't think we should jump to conclusions. -narrows eyes- Bil seems to know too much...

Actually fourth...how soon is soon? Soon could be a year or two from now for all we know. I remember when Luka's V3 was 'soon' and look what happened with that. /notbitter

...Wait, seriously? V4? Already? V3 is not that old... I agree, they should do some significant changes. It's a bit unbelievable, but maybe the engine would be really improved. At least I hope so. And that the speed of releasing new voicebanks won't increase once again...

I'd love a new engine and all but I wouldn't say it's fantastic.

I'm quite satisfied with V3 if I'm honest, I really love using it.

So to me, if V4 is released this soon after V3, then to me it'll just feel like another thing Yamaha's going to shove down our throats if we want the new vocals :/ And going with the trend of new product releases (Microsoft Office 365, Adobe Creative Cloud, even Rana), watch V4 be subscription-based.

Plus, I love PowerFX, but given my past dealings with Engloid companies, Yamaha seems to keep them out of the loop. I'd take their word on things other than their products with a grain of salt until we know that Yamaha actually cares to tell them things.

Heck, Zero-G didn't even know VOCALOID NEO was a thing until I told them about it earlier this year. They had thought it was still in its alpha stages.

I think it's just best to wait for official word. Might do well to create a "VOCALOID Rumors" section to this forum ;P

Totally agreeing with you (and the you'd get the rumours turning to be true put in vocaloid news, etc and then, the ones who aren't would stay in that Rumors section with an explanation so no one can be misleaded)

yeah same thing I was thinking someone said up top the Email says "V.4" So I read it as Version -point- 4 like maybe an updated to V3 V3.4.

Someone emailed them after that email and they got V 4 instead of V.4. So I highly doubt it.

Plus, why would they skip from V3.1.1 to V3.4?

Well, UTAU skipped from 0.2 to 0.4 so perhaps it was because 0.3 wasn't release ready but still considered a version

As for this one, it’s to avoid software believing you are using W95 or W98, and thus stopping to work because they are incompatible with those OS ^^ So, there’s just the name here which has changed, not the OS itself.

As regard V4, I am not surprised, and I am waiting for a certain feature I’ve been told that would allow to add a lot of realism to voices, and to be honest, I’m surprised that no one yet have talked about that yet on the different communities I’m following (here, VocaloidOtaku, Vocaloid.fr and Vocaloid.cl). But if it happens, I think everyone will be really excited about that as soon as it’d be announced.

Well, with this "V4" booms out, tell me if V3 voicebanks can be imported to V4 engine (only if it really happens) as if V2 voicebanks can be imported to V3 engine.
