So last day, while I was bored on my TL, @PaintedCz made a tweet with a new singing synthesizer software that we was using with her Czloid bank.

Making some researching I've found that NameWave is a new (really new, it has been released recently) software that acts similar to UTAU but with more pre-made plugins inside it, the ability of doing manual pitchbends inside the UI, use a backing track, includes a "Voiceroid" plugin and you can import your UTAU banks onto the software (I still don't know if .frq and oto configs are taken in the import process, I only know that the alias are used).

Also, it's in beta stage and it crashes often (specially when zooming things on "Traffic") but it gives quite nice results with some work ofc [pretty much like UTAU was considered as a "Manual Vocaloid", I would consider NameWave as a "Manual UTAU"].

Below you can find the release video and here you have also a small, simple demo I made with my CV UTAU:
I would also share Cz's English try but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to do that.
Opinions on this software?

The samples make me think of how the Macnes sound in Garageband. Not that that's a bad thing necessarily, if you work it right I think it can make the voice more interesting.

I downloaded it yay experimentation~ :sing:

ETA: Well no wonder it reminds me of the Macnes. The basic principle seems to be the same. I think it can be great for making CV banks sound smooth though. *goes back to playing with it*

I'd love to test it out but unfortunately I have no computer fit for doing so at the moment :-(

On the other hand, Chezzie was testin Avy's thing! No wonder it sounded so smooth (and familiar), heh

I can't seem to be able to get it working. Or well, it does turn on, but the plugins ("Traffic" and stuff, I think?) don't appear and I can't do anything with it, other than load/save .nw0 files which doesn't even have anything in them to begin with. :bigtears: Am I doing something wrong or...? My computer has been changed to the japanese locale thing, naturally, but nothing. :cynical:

Go to the dlls folder, select the .dll file that appears in here, right button, properties and unlock the file. Windows tends to block any dll file downloaded from internet x'D

Also, check your antivirus doesn't qualify it as a dangerous file. owo

Oh, that made them appear now. Thanks! I'll go try it right away~

The software looks nice but a bit confusing:

  • Is it possible to import UST file into NameWave?
  • Is it possible to use UTAU resampler into NameWave?

I'll post it! haha
Yeah I was using Liv's test because Cz's oto is currently like 5000 lines of oto and NameWave didn't really know what to do with it.

I didn't get a chance to look into it more because I'm busy recording this week, but I have very high hopes for this program. Very high.

Been playing around with this program for a bit. I don't quite like it for singing, however it may prove useful for Hanasu/Talkloid type things.

It's obviously still in it's beta stages, and has a long way to go before it catches up in quality to UTAU or Vocaloid.

Haven't tried it yet, but judging from just the release video, it looks kinda cool! I especially like that "draw out the vibrato" thing. Also, keeping an UTAU-ish interface, but also getting rid of those pesky rests was kinda neat, too. (I dunno, UTAU rests annoy me right now.)

So far the only thing you can import from UTAU are CV voicebanks x'D
This software is really in beta stage so you need to follow the tutorial if you want to do some things with it. owo/

I could import my UTAU’s VCV-VC Tibetan voicebank, so I think you can import pretty much every voicebanks you’d like to import, but I couldn’t manage to figure out how to import multipitch VB which are classified in different folders.
Actually, it displays first all the filenames, and then later in the list the aliases, which are to be used instead of the filenames directly.

But this software is pretty interesting, I’ll try to do something with it once I have some rest. I’m looking forward new versions of it (because making VCV with it is pretty hard imo, compared to UTAU)

Ok, I checked it again and I was wrong. (;・∀・)
I also hope this software gets updated with VCV and other recording methods support (as in enveloping, not in importing vbs) in a future.

okay but can we get a tutorial
NameWave's release video (the one that you can find on the first post) is already a tutorial. It's in Japanese but it's really visual, you can make the software work by looking at the full video. owo/
