Most of the songs are blocked in the US area, Youtube has sent me a notif where they blocked some of my videos in US but still view able outside the US. I still think you are able to cover but not going to be able to see it in Mobile

This is because of YouTube "Red" I believe. If you search YouTube Red, you'll be able to find out more about it.

You're still able to cover and upload it, just in the US you are unable to view it unless you go onto your browser and download a proxy blocker or use some other method to make the website register your IP from outside the US - this is probably illegal but since the addons got through whatever they go through to get on the addon download page then I'm guessing it's okay? Could somebody correct me on this if I'm wrong?

I doubt it's anything to do with YouTube Red. YouTube Red is pretty much a paid ad blocker and bug fixer (apparently it is meant to fix the sub box and such?). This is to do with the record companies involved I believe.

I'm pretty sure it is? The vocaloid producers that are partnered with Youtube are affected I believe. Stuff like Supercell and ExitTunes.

Okay so the Official Email from YouTube that explains the situation, at least how they want us to understand it, says:

"Here's why this is happening: You may have heard that we recently announced YouTube Red - a new membership that offers fans more choice in how they watch their favorite videos with features like ad-free, background and offline viewing for a monthly fee. In order to deliver a great experience for fans who choose to pay for this offering, we are updating our contracts with all of our content partners. The new terms make it possible for us to share subscription revenues with creators, providing an additional revenue stream for them beyond ad-supported YouTube revenue. The overwhelming majority of videos on YouTube are accounted for in our agreements, but there are some partners who have asked for more time to think about their options. While we work with these partners to update their terms, we unfortunately can't make their claimed videos available in the US."

From how I read it, it seems that in their implementation of YouTube Red, they haven't fully negotiated the rights with every copyright owner to remove adds (for the YouTube Red users) on videos with the copyright holder's content in them.

So how do they create an entirely add-free YouTube for the Red users while still launching YouTube Red on their timeline?
Block all the videos they currently can't apply the service to in the US for the time being.

If a YouTube partner doesn't agree to the YouTube Red Terms then all their content is made private.
This affects anything that have their copyright including covers.

So basically expect half of YouTube to disappear lol.
This includes outside the US as well in most cases.

Ah yeah. I just recieved that email. Welp, I think I'm a YouTube partner so... yeah... I don't earn any money so... :/

I guess I might sign it. My priority is making sure that my subscribers can still enjoy my videos before anything else.

You would know if you're a YT partner; you have to voluntarily sign on for it.

A worrisome thing I've heard is that many Japanese companies are in deals with Nico Nico Douga, especially music companies. And while I have no confirmation of this, a lot of people are saying that it might mean that they'll never agree with Red. Like the ESPN problem - they're already in a contract saying they won't be on another subscription based service. I'm mega concerned about that, as the main avenues it's affecting are video games and music. Some of my videos are down, I hope this resolves well...
