Questions about CVVC?

So everyone says it's best to move on to cvvc after working with cv, so I'm probably gonna do that before vcv, but anyway- I have a lot of questions,

1.) How do you convert usts to cvvc manually? All the cvvc tutorials I find just sort of point me to a cvvc ust converter but I can't use plugins because I'm on a mac. So, if anyone could tell me how to change usts manually that'd be great.

2.) How do you alias cvvc? All of the reclists I can find are in romaji, which is good and all but I'm planning on making a Japanese Utau so It'd be nice if they were cross compatible between both hiragana and romaji. Do you just do the cv part like a regular cv bank, then the vc part like you would a vcv bank?

3.) So when you oto, the cv part is just like a regular cv bank, then for vc, the consonant is the extended sound?

Also just to clarify, this is in regards to Japanese CVVC

Sorry, It's kind of a lot but thank you in advance for the help ^^;

I will try to help you. Sorry, I am not the best person to it, since I really hate to work wity CVVC.

1-I dont use plugins for CVVC as well. When I work with it, I input VCV lyrics and play. The notes that doesnt play I make it CV by removing the prefix. There should be an easier way, but Idk

2-Try using Dill's (UTAU by 5^2) whisper (or boisterous whisper) voicebank. It is CVVC hiragana encoded and aliased.

3-IDK, sorry

Very first thing what I do is that if UST is for VCV, I use surffix broker and edit UST to fix CV voicebank.

Then I select like this Screen Shot 2016-03-28 at 21.50.09.png. (Sometimes I select for "length" shorten than 16 (aka. 32 or 64) depending of situation)

Then look at the UST.

I personally usually like use just VC sounds of t/k/p/n/m/s and no much else ("h" is not usually very good in CVVC in my opinion...)

This REALLY depends on voicebank but sometimes y/h/r/w doesn't sounds really nice or good in VC, so I often do not use this sounds' VC sounds.

Let's say that lyrics are "aishiteiruyo"

I would put between "i" and "shi" short "i sh" note, between "shi" and "te" "i t" note.

IF UST has parts which has REALLY fast and super short note parts (like in two-faced lovers song), then I won't add any VC notes between CV notes.

2)

If you want to make own JP CVVC then...

ALL CV sounds: in hiragana. For example あ か さ
(If you WANT, you can ALSO alias CVVC's "CV" sounds in romaji!)

ALL VC sounds: ALWAYS in romaji! *vowel**european keyboard space**consonant*
For example "a t" "n k" "i s" and so on

Very often CVVC reclist has also "VV" sounds. "a あ" "i う" "e ん" etc.

3)

Sorry, IDK how to explain...

In Japanese cvvc the cv part is pretty much other like regular cv. The vc part is used as a bridge, so it cuts off the consonant like k, p ect. So you'll have the transition from vowel to consonant. If that makes sense ^^;;

To change USTs manually, you add the VC right between two CV notes. Take a bit off the end of the preceding note -- about as much as the length of the next note's consonant envelope (preutterance) -- and split that into a new note (on Windows you can do this with CTRL+Shift+dragging, so try CMD+Shift+dragging to do it on mac), then change the lyric of that note to the appropriate VC (same vowel as the previous sound, same consonant as the next sound).

I only use hiragana for CVVC myself -- it's just easier to record in romaji. You alias the CV just like CV; the VC you alias in the form of [V C] with a space, much like a VCV, but rather than [a か] you'll just have [a k].

3.) So when you oto, the cv part is just like a regular cv bank, then for vc, the consonant is the extended sound?
Basically, yes. For the VC, you probably don't want to actually put most consonants inside of the stretched (white) region of the oto; pull the pink over almost all of it and just use a tiny bit of white at the end. You can get away with putting stretchy consonants like m, n, l, etc. in the white region as well as the silence prior to a k, t, p, etc. sound if you'd rather, but generally, you don't want most of the consonant to stretch.

I don't have a lot of time to write a nice post about this at the moment, but if you need help later, feel free to message me. Manual CVVC is my strong point, since I was doing it back before we had all these fancy plugins.
