Which do you order for voice banks?
The actual quality of the voice bank or the amount of pitches and appends it has?
I know I ask the stupidest of questions also pls don't argue with other people because of their opinions

sometimes I go for amount of appends but not always. I don't really care much about quality
(Unless it's really bad)

Well... let's say there are two different voice banks.
One is a 12 pitch VCV megabank with an okay oto and was recorded on a $10 microphone.
The other is a monopitch CVVC voicebank, has a nice oto, and recorded on a great $500 microphone.
Tbh, I'd prefer to use the second voicebank mainly because the quality is better. Although many pitches are amazing and can really make a voice shine, if it isn't very HQ then it's not 100% usable.
(I also don't really know what I'm typing rn because I'm in school and dying so if this doesn't make sense I'm sorry))

Definitely quality! I just don't see what's the point of say, recording 15 VCV pitches if the end result will sound like crap. I'd much rather just use a CV bank recorded on a HQ mic and have good oto instead.

imo quantity < quality. Multipitch and appends can't make up for bad oto, frq and/or mic. The only time I make an exception is when the bank is within the ok range on most things and have a voice type I really like.

Quality msot of the rtime after, when it comes to appends, pitches, languages it's more of a bonus than a must to me (and hat anyway even with a monopitch monolingual bank i will still try some experiment)

Porque no los dos Personally I like quality, but I prefer a good middle ground between the amount of variety of the voice and quality. If both are present it's a win-win.

I guess I prefer quality but somewhere in the middle is more accurate

Honestly the quality is more important. You can have a 5 pitch with a crappy oto that's worse than a single pitch with a good oto.

quality. idc if you have pitches, languages, and appends for days... if the oto needs work - regardless if i like the voice or not - i'll probably fix the oto, use that bank once, and erase it from my thoughts afterwards (sitting in the voice folder forever in neglect). i'm not asking for studio quality, but i would like more effort than... act 10 sounding like it's still in the realm of test beta 1.

Quality is so important. Quantity doesn't mean anything if you choose to do little with that quantity (both from a maker and a user).

Frankly, I think you could apply this question to the making of the VCCV reclist--it was made for more english voicebanks, not better english voicebanks.

A lot of people choose quality over quality.

But let it put it this way...

Let us say, if the quality voicebank can support one pitch range only, and when any notes fall outside the supported pitch range, it will make the voicebank unusable as the voice for those outside notes are not supported. This will greatly decrease the number of songs that the voicebank can support. The user who get to use it will not be able to make many songs and may encounter difficulty using the voicebank.

On the other hand, for the quatity voicebank, (let us assume the voice is acceptable, but just not as impressive as the quality voicebank), but because it is multi pitch, it will be able to support more songs. This make the quatity voicebank more user friendly. The user can also get to play and enjoy more songs with it.

I had this experience using Namine Ritsu Kire voicebank. I really like C5 pitch. It was high pitch and enough power. Being a newbie, I tried to use this pitch for every songs. But it sounds weird when I tried to use Ritsu C5 pitch to sings notes that fall outside the pitch range.

Since then, I tried using G4 pitch and it was much easier to use.

However, if you choose quantity over quality, there will be many cases where you don't get the effect you want, even with the quantity. And if the voicebank is not quality enough, it won't be easy to use.

In addition, if the UST is out of the normal range of the UTAU, move it up or down an octave. That's an easy solution to a simple problem. However, if you're dealing with a voicebank that's not quality enough but has several pitches (like has background noise and other things but has C3, F3, A3, C4, etc) then it's not exactly so user friendly.

I took this question differently I guess and why I'm the only one with quantity > <" but how I see It is would you rather have a voicebank with high quality mic or a voicebank with alot of appends/pitches so like:

If you want Teto with a HQ mic or Defoko with appends I would see that both is really important for a voice but if we were to decide on one I'd pick quantity.
