Voicebank isn't singing?

This is going to be a tad hard to explain because I have no idea what I'm going on about, so sorry if you can't make sense of what I'm about to type. (By the way, I am on mac and using Utau Synth)

Recently I've downloaded a new voiceband and basically I think the files have messed up and are in mojibake/symbols.

So first of, I have changed my location to Japan before downloading, tried both Hiragana and romaji USTs, used the recommended extractor(?) on the utau wiki but still it remains in the symbols.

I have no idea if it is intended to be like this?

It renders fine and from the brackets I know that it should work yet it stays silent.
Is there something I'm doing wrong and/or am I just being stupid? I've only had utau for a month so I'm super sorry if it is something obvious, I'm just at loss at what to do

sorry was hard to see with my phone.
You will need to download another unzipping utility, the default one causes mojibake.
Try software such as "unrarx" or "keka".
