do a simple test with minimal recordings just to train your voice to recording, staying on pitch, oto'ing, etc. basically just to prepare you until you mic comes~
two ore days until i'm finished with exams... still doesn't know whether to make an original or finish covers first
may 31st - last day of dry season: hot af. june 1st - first day of rainy season: rains whole day. wtf just happened
when you're making an original and you only know one instrument and have no idea what to do for the rest... forever procrastinate

When it comes to structuring song layers, I break it down into four parts: Bass, chords, rhythm, and melody! (Coincidentally, it's also the setup of a 4 piece band). Something simple but effective could be a bass guitar, piano chords, a drum beat, and then the UTAU's vocals on top. You can also combine elements (such as giving chords a cool rhythm to drive the song)

Cool. I still need to install a DAW so I'll mess around with MuseScore until something clicks.
first my 'n' sample was glitchy asf and now it sounds so damn loud. what the hell is wrong with this mic?!!

LMMS works fine for most people. If you want something simpler, you could try Caustic. However, you will need something else to mix the vocals in with your music, since it doesnt support audio tracks particularly well

Tracktion T4 is available for free (and there's a limited time for a smooth upgrade to the current version), Reaper doesn't restrict anything when the trial is over, and Podium Free isn't far removed from the full version.
how does one make a reclist?

Start by researching the phonetics and phonotactics of the language, then use that to construct a list of every possible syllable.

@Jeffrey theoretically, yes. should they have the right phonemes, they should be able to sing accented japanese
omfg no wonder some of my samples came out like shit. i didn't let the mic adjust before recording. i feel so dumb now. time to re-record

Do a 'd' sound like in the word be[tt]er and combine it with an L...thats the best i could describe XD
i can't find the off-vocal for flower of sorrw *dies* there better be a off vocal for it around still otherwise i did this cover for nothing
as much as i like tuning flower of sorrow with my utau and moresampler, i think i need to sleep now.
i wonder if i could reverse a CV sample in Audacity and make it VC and see how it sounds in utau. probably shit lol
when your "n" sounds like utter crap so you oto the "n" from 'na' instead xD
