This's is the fully released Cherokee oto and reclist. This page will fully explain how to successfully utilize the resource, and how to use it afterwards.
Reclist:
Cherokee has no vowel to vowel movements. They are always separated by a consonant unless switching words, in which case there would be a pause.
Pronunciation:
The vowels are basically the same as the Japanese.
a=a in father
e=e in kept
i=ee in keep
o=o in coke
u=ou in you
v=like a British person saying aught.
Each vowel also has a sample ending in '. This is not a vocal fry, but rather an abrupt stop of the vowel. This is needed for the language itself as some words have a distinctly short vowel.
The consonants are mostly the same as in the English language. I will list the one that is not.
hh=an optional consonant. A guttural h almost like the German 'ach'.
Translating a Song into Cherokee(Notes on Cherokee Grammer):
△ Predicates: These are mostly unused in Cherokee. Words such as is, or do. They are simply unnecessary to the structure of the sentence.
Examples of Predicates: Is, a, do.
△ Questions: These are simple, add suffixes to the first word of the sentence.
Suffixes: sgo, s, tsu, and ge.
There is a bit of a structure change as well, instead of 'do you speak cherokee?', the cherokee version translates to 'speak cherokee?'
Tsalagisgo hiwoniha?
Do you speak Cherokee?
△ Negatives With Verbs: Add either 'gesdi', or 'tla' directly before the verb. Add 'yi-' to the beginning of the verb if it begins with a consonant.. If the verb begins with a vowel, just add 'y-'. Example: uduliha = yuduliha. tsaduliha = yitsaduliha.
I don't know what defines whether or not one used gesdi or tla, but here are some examples from the website linked below.
ama uduliha. - S/he, it wants [some] water.
ama gesdi yuduliha. - S/he, it doesn't want water.
kawi agwaduliha. - I want [some] coffee.
kawi tla yagwaduliha. - I don't want coffee.
△Negatives With Nouns and Adjectives: Add gesdi before the noun. After the noun, another word is added to specify the tense.
Present: yigi
Past: yigisei
Future: yigesesdi
Hia wesa. - This is a cat.
Hia gesdi wesa yigi. - This is not a cat.
Osda gesv'i. - It was good.
Gesdi osd yigisei. - It wasn't good.
△ Plurals: For plurals, a different prefix is added depending on the properties of the noun.
Animate: Add ani. If the word starts with a vowel, replace the vowel with the i in ani. When referring to a person (i.e Uncle), switch the prefix to tsu.
asgaya = anisgaya
Inanimate: The same rules apply. Use a prefix of di or tsu. I don't know when to use each, sorry.
Non-possessive: Use prefix of du or da. Again, I don't know when to use which.
