I made a script that converts SRT subtitles to Nico Nico Douga uploader comments

This is possibly the most narrowly specific thing I have ever made, of which I'm not even sure who on earth would want to use this except me. But here goes anyway! Unlike YouTube, Nico Nico Douga doesn't have official support for closed captions or subtitles, meaning that if you want to have...

    VocaLounge: a vocalsynth-themed Mastodon instance!

We've opened up VocaLounge, a new vocalsynth-themed Mastodon server! What is Mastodon, you ask? It's a social media platform much like Twitter, but with a lot of other benefits. You can read more about it in this guide! Mastodon has been catching on as a Twitter alternative lately, but it's...

Is it still considered preferable to have VCV and CV banks as separate downloads?

This is totally me having a "what are the kids doing these days?" moment, so you'll have to forgive me :sing: Anyway, in 2009-2010 or so, when VCV was still quite the new thing, the ratio of CV-only users to VCV users was still quite high, and it was considered prudent to keep separate...

    Soundcloud alternatives

Source, source, source. All of them mainstream technology and music news outlets, and literally among the first results that come up on Google upon even searching Audius's name (definitely a far cry from just The Verge). The problem is not the fact they take data -- you are correct in that many...

    Soundcloud alternatives

I normally am not one to break my silence on this issue, but I feel this is something that cannot be emphasized enough -- despite everything appealing about its UI, Audius is extremely sketchy on the grounds that they run on blockchain and cryptocurrency, and, more damningly, are not transparent...

    [CLOSED] Moderator and Tutor Applications

I'm just going off what Soursop has said about the tutor position, but I want to make clear what a "tutor" is defined as in the scope of UF. The Tutor position is not just an awards system title we give to anyone and everyone deemed "helpful" in terms of UTAU and all. Being helpful with an...

We need to start talking about the future of UTAU's engine development before it's too late

Nobody's ever against another one. (Also, not one for this.)

We need to start talking about the future of UTAU's engine development before it's too late

Yamaha did not trademark nor invent the piano roll or synthesized vocals and as long as that is the case, they legally cannot submit a CoD against UTAU; plus even if they could they'd be more productive submitting one against CeVIO and ones that actually make money off of it. UTAU also doesn't...

An informal request: please include ToS/EULA terms with your UTAU!

Of course in the end it's all up to you, but speaking as someone who makes original stuff, it'd really make our lives easier! As this is largely an informal thing going around I understand if you honestly don't care, but as a creator it's really much better for us to know what we can and can't...

We need to start talking about the future of UTAU's engine development before it's too late

I'd like to remind everyone to please fill out the Google form if you haven't already and are interested! I'm getting advice from a friend who works in the field on how to do a real software spec and I'd like to seriously talk about making a real team once I get back from Korea and Japan. (Out...

We need to start talking about the future of UTAU's engine development before it's too late

All right, I've made the Google form. Please fill it out if you're interested in participating in the project. Obviously since this will be an open project anyone will be free to contribute at any time, so please be honest when answering the questions. This is to see how much of a viable option...

We need to start talking about the future of UTAU's engine development before it's too late

As soon as I get home I'm gonna make a Google form so I can coordinate everyone who has an interest in contributing to the core team of the project (of course, since the idea is to be open-source, hopefully anyone will be able to jump in if they feel like it). We'll see if we have enough people...

We need to start talking about the future of UTAU's engine development before it's too late

Here's the spec I was talking about. The person you're talking about is Masao, I haven't heard of Ameya doing anything in this regard. That said, the problems I mentioned in the original post still apply; UTAU hasn't had a formal update since 2012/2013, and the demands being placed on it in...

We need to start talking about the future of UTAU's engine development before it's too late

I'm going to type up a design doc with all the ideas I had in mind later today. I say "later today" because I need to take a nap first, didn't get much sleep the past two days OTL

We need to start talking about the future of UTAU's engine development before it's too late

To be honest, I'm actually really interested in helping out in a team for this (having been brainstorming ideas about this for over a year and even written a ton of design concepts for something like it). The only thing that's making me worried about potentially spearheading a project like this...

We need to start talking about the future of UTAU's engine development before it's too late

I think I've heard of that before (I also see shurabaP on there, who had assisted with Cadencii if I remember correctly). It seems like a promising venture. Does it have (or is it intended to have, since you said it can't build yet) backwards compatibility with UTAU's current workflow...

We need to start talking about the future of UTAU's engine development before it's too late

Right now, I think this is the most important thing to be doing right now. As has been said before, most of us are not active devs, so my hope is to make this at least a persistent enough issue that people will talk about it often, and it reaches the ears of those who are both willing to help...

We need to start talking about the future of UTAU's engine development before it's too late

This is what I'm hearing as well, although I think I'll have to ask him a little more about this. That said, I think this is an issue the wider community needs to be aware of as a whole, and there's definitely gonna have to be more than one developer thinking about what to do going forward.

We need to start talking about the future of UTAU's engine development before it's too late

Even if Ameya's second coming were to happen, unless the code becomes open-source then there's no way to prevent a situation like this from happening again. So making the functional clone would probably be the ideal option - that is, if we could get enough people to be interested in such a venture.
