I had the idea of making a voicebank for a DAW since I discovered LMMS.
Then I found something on Mako's homepage. It's called "Renoid".
Renoids are voicebanks, usually in SF2 or XRNI format for usage in Renoise and other DAWs. The pitch shift is done by pitch-corrector plugins such as KeroVee by working with a melody line.
I desperately want to try out this method on LMMS since if we have LMMS and KeroVee, we don't need UTAU. Especially if you have Linux. But sadly, upon routing the MIDI signal to an effect in LMMS (such as KeroVee), the effect just deactivates.
So I'm going to make a LADSPA plugin possibly more advanced than KeroVee which doesn't need a MIDI input. Instead, it'll use something like an UST.
And not to mention that most system maintainers give out LMMS packages without VST support (I have plans for a layer which will treat VSTs as LADSPAs... from scratch since the VST SDK is copyrighted).
So, what do you think about the idea of a DAWloid? You can use a voicebank in your favourite DAW.
