how to use velocity in openutau?

hello hello,

a few days ago I watched a guide on how someone tuned in openutau and they said that using velocity is what separates good tuning with regular tuning.

I'm not so sure how to use velocity though in the flag section, it lessens the length? how do I use that to my advantage? they said something about rhythm but my brain cannot do the equation of 1+1 in terms of that.

so if someone could explain what velocity does and how it'd be ideally used it'd be super super cool!

Velocity changes the length of the 'consonant', or the part of the sample in front of the pink line. It can be used to shorten long consonants, re-align a sample to the beat if it starts slightly too fast or slow, or to add stress/emphasis in languages like English (I don't recommend doing this for Japanese songs unless you know what you're doing).
